Hey everyone – a quick update on some recent bug fixes & changes to iFanboy.com that were pushed out today. This batch includes some high priority bugs that many of you complained about as well as an update to the site based on your feedback
- Comics > Community Reviews Ratings – We know it’s been frustrating to not have your ratings save correctly with your user reviews. This bug has been fixed, so your ratings in your comics reviews should save correctly. Let us know if you see otherwise
- Comics > Number of Pulls - Now when you pull a book, you’ll see the number of pulls increase realtime
- Comics > Remove Comic – We’ve added a text link for “Remove Comic” to make removing a comic from your pull list easier. You can also just click on the pull button to undo your pull
- Comments > Usernames Linked – Usernames in the comments now link to the User Profile page
- Search – We’ve removed the previous search tool and have replaced it with Google Search. You can access the search in the upper right corner of the site at any time.
- Behind The Scenes Fixes- And as always, we’ve made some behind the scenes fixes/tweaks that you may not see or be aware of, but keep everything running smoothly

Any chance of having more than 4 recent comments appear like on the old site? With the trackbacks and user reviews and stuff showing up there, there is a ton of content for that small amount of space. its pretty difficult to follow threads unless you are on the site constantly…especially with your cool nested commenting feature. I think that could really improve functionality and overall user experience.
We’re looking at that area and figuring out how to show more on the homepage – not sure when the change will come, but hopefully sooner rather than later
Ron, I’m still having the issue where I get the ‘invalid user’ page when I try to look at the ‘profile’ or ‘your comics’ pages. I’m sure that has something to do with me never getting my registration confirmation email. I’m not sure if I screwed up the process or not, but my account does let me log in and pull comics. Weird
I know I emailed you guys about it just the other day but I wanted to put a bug in your ear again. Thanks for any help.
If I need to make a new account, I can do that.

I just noticed the Pick of the Week (the article that is published on Wednesday evening, not the show) is not showing up with all of the other articles in the RSS feed. I don’t know if this is by design or not, but I do enjoy getting it in my reader.

We’re working on the box staying away for longer – currently, if you exit and restart your browser it comes back, but if you leave your browser app running, it should remember to stay away
Will you be bringing back the “Edit” feature for comic reviews? It would be nice to go back and fix those typos I missed after posting reviews.

Hey Ron, this isn’t a big deal really but is there any thought to letting the users see how many views the community reviews have gotten? I know on the old site it showed how many comments and how many views of each review.
If not, it’s no big deal.

As iFanboy’s community is by far the best and most even-tempered community of comics fans on the web I’d love to have a forum.
I miss the days of yore when I spent countless hours reading, joking, discussing and all other sorts of haberdashery on the Rev. 3 forums. Those were the salad days! I’d love to see a forum return, but realize the difficulties that come with it.
oh hey, one more thing. What about a “notifcation email” when someone replies to your review or a comment?

I would LOVE a notification email. I comment on so many things that I often lose track or forget once the topic is off the main page.

Oh one minor thing, with the Pick of the Week on the homepage, I instinctively click the cover image every time and it always goes to a pop up image of the cover, could you make clicking the image take you to the POTW review? That’s one of the only functionality things besides the aforementioned review edit that I noticed. thnx
The “remember me” check box doesn’t seem to be working for me anymore. Is this a common problem? Thanks for all the work you guys do.
I’ve been having the same problem lately. I have never really had this problem before this week.
I have the same problem too. Whenever visit the website, I have to enter my username and password each time…even if I check the “remember me” box.
Another ‘ditto’ on the Remember Me’ button.

Surely one of the worst sights for a collector is screwed up paper, the back drop makes me uneasy. Other than that all is good and getting better.

I’ve also noticed that the Bio on the profile pages is still messed up. It may just be mine but it has things like in the bio.
That didn’t come out right . It has the code for bold print spelled out in the bio.

I’m probably not even aware of half the things I can do on this site as it is. So I have no suggestions. You guys run a pretty tight ship. And I think it’s obvious how much we all appreciate it. iFanboy is a cozy little corner of my every day. Thank you for making an effort to keep it that way.
Well, some of these features were what I was looking for a long while. You can sleep easy now, people!
Pulling and rating books still does not work on seemingly anything but iOS Safari. I have tried Mac, and Windows versions of Firefox and Chrome, no go.
I’m using Chrome on a Mac and have not experienced any problems pulling and rating books on the “Your Comics” page.
you’re right, it is working on Chrome on Mac, but it’s definitely not working in Firefox on Mac or Windows, and Chrome on Windows.
