New Comics for 05.30.2012 went to the beach and grilled some hot dogs
May 29, 2012 4:52 pm Thought it'd be a light week financially, then I remembered that the annuals I pulled are $5 each. Meh...I'm still getting Wolverine & The X-Men, Peter Panzerfaust, and American Vampire this week too, so I can't complain.
BQ: At my parents' place, eating hot dogs and watching Band of Brothers. Then drew covers the rest of the night. I approve...

Light Week? Try EMPOWERED, VOL. 7, COW BOY: A BOY AND HIS HORSE, or SUPERMAN FAMILY ADVENTURES #1!
May 29, 2012 4:41 pm I missed the bandwagon with Tiny Titans unfortunately, but hoping to make it up with Superman Family after hearing Baltazar and Franco talk about it on Word Balloon recently. Let's hope it stands its ground and gets more of them young whippersnappers into comics :)

DC Histories: Stephanie Brown (Spoiler / Robin IV / Batgirl IV)
May 23, 2012 11:57 am Bryan Q. Miller's Batgirl is greatly missed. I realize we're in a different continuity now, but surely she has to be in there at some point soon given her long history with the Bat family.

BATMAN, INCORPORATED #1
May 23, 2012 9:43 am One thing you can say about Morrison - you may not understand what he does half the time in his books, but it's definitely different than the rest of the books on the market, which is something sorely needed. Can't wait to see what he brings next to good old Bats!

Special Edition – Independent Voices in Comics: New Stories and How To Sell Them
May 21, 2012 9:55 am This was incredibly impressive, guys. Loved hearing the different opinions about breaking into comics the independent way. I can only imagine how tough it is in this market to do that - you almost have to treat it like a business where you're constantly working at and plugging your material. Best to all on their books!

I’ve Read Nothing Lately
April 18, 2012 2:12 pm Since I started doing my own podcast, I can't tell you how many times I've felt like I've always needed to keep up with the conversation on the latest in comics. The Marvel and DC hype can do that to you since they're the 2 dominant players. It's why I've been focusing on the smaller players and going back to old stuff I didn't read in the early 2000s when I wasn't reading comics.
Plus, getting away for a while recharges the batteries. Just came back from Atlantic City for my wife and I's anniversary. I bought new Puma sneakers and now I'm energized to read more comics. That makes sense, right? :)
Also - Avengers Alliance on Facebook is freakin' awesome if you want to break up your comic love into other mediums.

TRAILER: Ultimate Spider-Man from Disney XD
March 16, 2012 10:33 am I'm not feeling it. I'll give it a shot any way, but I don't see a "Spider-Man" show so far - just "Spider-Man tagging along with the Avengers"

DC Announces ‘Before Watchmen’ (UPDATE)
February 1, 2012 10:50 am I'm looking at this from the perspective of we're hopefully getting more great content from really great creators (jury's inconclusive on JMS though). I don't get the logic of how this taints the original story. Did Dark Knight Strikes Again make the original Miller story look terrible? Absolutely not. I'm on board with this.

DC Writers on the Move! Jeff Lemire Takes Over JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK; Peter Milligan to STORMWATCH (UPDATE!) Matt Kindt on FRANKENSTEIN
January 31, 2012 1:00 pm It was a REALLY slow burn for me as Milligan was writing JLD. That being said, Lemire on JLD next has me bouncing off walls in excitement. You can really see how much DC is putting trust in him and Snyder to help lead the direction of the new DCU.
