May 3, 2012 12:08 pm I honestly think that Superman needs to be a global figure- whenever UK writers take a hold of him there is this tendency to put americana on steroids. Now before Conor steps in here to remind me of how Superman started - I know. But you can take those ideals of justice and morality and put them on a broader scale create a larger more modern appeal with the core concepts in tact. Just doesn't need to have an american flag waving in the background. And yes I also understand the licensing implications and the connection Americans have to this character. It can be done with subttley.

May 3, 2012 9:40 am Not much of a mystery really- when you have someone named Giant Man on the team- yeah you have a few big chairs laying around. The real question is why it's just a little too small. What's a seventeenhead?
May 2, 2012 9:02 pm Want to take odds Ron does the hat trick next week? Unless its a terrible story- I am thinking he finds it irresistible.
May 2, 2012 12:19 pm While the fight between cap and Logan was a bit contrived this was still miles better than Aaron's bullshit on this. I honestly don't care to read anything he writes for marvel these days. As unbelievable that sounds his marvel work has suffered greatly.

May 1, 2012 6:02 pm Tell - I am really asking - Cap's suit?
May 1, 2012 4:10 pm His track record doesn't have anything to do with his ability to do more work of a similar kind? ? Whedon's work is good. But it's also very particular- anyone who looks at that captain america costume and gives it a thumbs up has invited some asceticism and frankly Dollhouse was a hot turd that looked like it came out of the E network. Yes there is a soap opera aspect to a lot of Marvel's big titles but if Thor starts talking about why Jane Foster wont call him back after their big date and sits down to a Feist song I am going to shoot someone. There's reason to cheer for him and there's reason to be apprehensive- if you look at the whole picture here. So yeah- sit down and chill out.

April 30, 2012 11:09 pm It's not that there isn't room for a lighthearted take on classic superheroes. I was a fan of Batman: The Brave and the Bold (which Dini wrote some episodes of), which dared to take Batman and put him into the middle of crazy, planet-hopping adventures the likes of which the character hadn't seen for decades. But that show managed, impressively, to actually keep Batman himself grounded and in-character, even when everything around him was so out there. On Ultimate Spider-Man, you have Spidey talking to the audience and constantly imagining weird and silly things we see visualized, so it all feels weightless and like Spider-Man himself isn't being taken seriously. Look, kids will almost certainly love it. And that's fine. But considering this is Marvel's most recognizable, iconic character, in the first completely self-produced Spider-Man series Marvel has made, it feels like a missed opportunity for something that truly hit home with Spider-Man fans of all ages.
