February 22, 2011 5:15 am @Minion @conor is right! While I am primarily interested in this book for Nicola Scott's gorgeous artwork, JT Krul's writing has been solid so far. Good fundamentals and he at least seems to be familiar with the characters and what makes a good team book work. I'm really beginning to suspect that all the shit people associate him with (eg: Rise of Arsenal) was all editorially mandated.

His Blackest Night Titans stuff, both the miniseries and the two issues of this series (#77 & #78) featuring the Wilson clan that tied into the event, was all good too. I say if you like the Teen Titans then give him and Nicola a shot! I dropped the book a few issues into Sean McKeever's run and never looked back for several years, but I just picked it back up with their first issue (#88) and I am loving it!
February 9, 2011 5:47 am Just Adventure Comics for me this week. I've been getting into the Legion of Superheroes (the team, not the title) over the last few months and am really excited about the Phil Jimenez previews I've seen for this issue! I just wish they hadn't cut that lighthouse scene off the top of the cover because I really liked the great sense of place in that illustration. Oh well.

BQ: I don't care about sports and I always mute the commercials when I do watch TV so you're asking the wrong guy.
February 2, 2011 12:36 am Mike, the next time you're at the Isotope, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out Ed Luce's Wuvable Oaf. James Sime calls it his favorite self-published comic book currently running and I call it my favorite comic book right now period point blank with no other qualifiers whatsoever.
February 2, 2011 12:15 am Wait, I'm confused. Where are Donna Troy, Jade, Dick Grayson, Jesse Quick, Mikaal Tomas and Congorilla?
January 31, 2011 6:48 pm Is this the same Eric Powell that has upcoming DC work listed in their April solicitations?

Speaking as someone who buys all kinds of comic books from a variety of publishers but whose primary interest these days is in the kind of indie black & white self-published type stuff that I typically have to buy directly from the creators themselves at local conventions because they aren't even distributed by Diamond, I will say that the whole "superhero comics are gay anal raping independent creators" thing is really not very helpful at all. In fact it's pretty offensive.
January 26, 2011 12:18 am I almost thought Paul meant that weird brunette Catwoman with the orange costume from the 70s cartoon New Adventures of Batman, since Adam West did the voice acting in that too.

January 26, 2011 12:12 am @conor Ah, ok. No wonder I couldn't find her name.
January 25, 2011 11:31 pm "Of all four actresses who portrayed Catwoman alongside Adam West,"

Wait, four? I thought there were only three. Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt and Lee Meriwether. Who was the fourth?
January 24, 2011 8:24 pm @doyleclark Add my name to the pile of Zatanna recommendations. It's been a lot of fun so far, and refreshing in that you don't need to read fifty other books along with a weekly comic to make sense of it since it really stands on it's own. There's been a few artists so far but none of them have been bad at all. I would suggest picking up this week's issue and the last issue which are both drawn by Cliff Chiang, then if you like those you can either pick up all the back issues or just get the Zatanna: Mistress of Magic trade which collects the first six issues and will be released in early March so you won't have long to wait.
January 24, 2011 8:15 pm I've recently had to dramatically and brutally cut down my pull list, partially because of these ridiculously huge weeks that always seem to come at the end of the month when rent is about to be due and I really can't afford to buy so many comics all at once, especially at four dollars a pop.

So this week all I'm getting is Teen Titans, Zatanna and Uncanny X-Force.

BQ: What cold weather? It's been sunny and warm here in San Francisco for the last week or so. Just ask Ron. But when it is cold, my best survival tip is to be fat.
