March 18, 2012 3:25 pm I assume Marvel wouldn't announce this, but since Thunderbolts is now going to become a "branded" Avengers book as Conor pointed out, do they plan on increasing it to $3.99? I'm really starting to vote with my wallet as far as these price increases go, so I'm hoping it doesn't happen because I have been quite enjoying this title.
March 16, 2012 5:30 pm Can't argue with that choice of panels from Wolverine & the X-Men, but the panel from the same page or so with Broo in shadow leaning up against the building holding the bloody shirt actually made me tear up. So I have to mention that panel.
February 27, 2012 2:12 pm Looks like Ron & I tied with 19. Those shockers in the Editing and Actress categories really messed up my ballot. Proud to say I went 3-for-3 on the shorts categories though! Really a disappointing year in the Picture field though; if I had to rank my top 5 films, usually most of them are nominated. This year, though, the lack of nominations for Shame, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Young Adult, etc. hurt my interest somewhat. Plus, after being there live last year, watching from home is a little less exciting.
February 20, 2012 7:29 pm Very excited to be attending this weekend. Are you the sole representative of the iFanboy crew there this weekend, Ron, or will we get cameos from some of the others?
January 10, 2012 5:40 pm Although others may disagree, I actually feel like the two books have pretty different feels. At this point, I want to say that The Last of the Greats is a (very) dark comedy, while Irredeemable always felt like a more traditional superhero drama.
January 2, 2012 4:09 pm I second pretty much everything you said. An amazing issue, and add into the emotions and bleakness the fact that it totally takes you by surprise (which doesn't happen much nowadays) and I'd say it makes for the best issue of the year.
October 11, 2011 3:17 pm The other thing that I think will be interesting to look at is when books start renumbering, which will allow for some variety. Detective Comics ended at 881, so I can only assume that at issue 19 that book will get renumbered to 900.
September 9, 2011 1:31 pm Although I haven't read that many of the comic book history books mentioned above, the only one that really gave a good yet thorough overview of comics throughout the century (what I've always been looking for) is Comic Book Comics, so I definitely second that recommendation to anyone who hasn't read it.
September 7, 2011 12:40 pm Great to hear that someone else got into reading comics due to a college course, because that's exactly how I started reading as well. Understanding Comics was a required book for a design class I took at Carnegie Mellon (as part of the drama school, need to give them their shoutout as well), and from that I decided to try out a graphic novel and it's been all downhill from there.
August 31, 2011 11:40 am Ron/Conor, are there any plans to do some type of "quick hits" review article on Wednesday's in the upcoming month, basically to give us a sense of what's worth checking out (in your opinions)?
