December 12, 2016 4:55 pm Great show. I wonder if you can give each other dumb powers
November 21, 2011 12:56 pm A series that I couldn't get into but people love is Grant Morrison's JLA. I just can't get past the horrible art and Lightning Bolt Superman or Lightning Bolt Superman.
October 31, 2011 8:36 pm I didn't have insurance. So I didn't get anything from the storage company. 15 years of collecting comics and keeping them in mint condition and buying variants and nothing to show for it. There's no way I can replace them without spending thousands that's better spent on my mortgage or my kids' college funds. Obscure titles like Young Heroes in Love will never resurface but I'm glad that Comixology has 99 cents digital sales for me to re-read my fav books for cheap.
October 31, 2011 4:59 pm I used to be obsessed in keeping all my single issues that I would rent a storage space (like Conor) to store my long boxes. That was until someone broke into my storage unit and stolen my entire collection from the 80s to 2008. I didn't care for most of the 90's stuff but I had a lot of great comic book run there. I was sad to lose my entire run of Strangers in Paradise considering that I was buying the series since it was first released. My Preacher run, Sandman, the 80's X-Men, Teen Titans, Fantastic Four. All great stories that's dear to my heart. Gone. In a way, I'm glad that we have same-day digital comics because I no longer have to worry about comic book clutter and buy collected editions of storylines that I love. Having my comics stolen was an unfortunate incident but it freed my from my obsessive compulsion of bagging and boarding comics that I only care to read once.
September 27, 2011 3:00 am I commend the iFanboys for at least giving Legion of Superheroes a chance. I just don't want them to dismiss it because of the recent LOSH run, which isn't really good. I've mentioned the Zero Hour relaunch because it's a very good starting point and if you love Guardians of the Galaxy you will love that run. As for Wonder Woman, did Conor ever read the George Perez run back in the 80's? That's the run that got me interested in the character and it's been decades since I've been fond of WW after Perez left the title.
September 26, 2011 6:59 pm Hi iFanboys, I can understand your frustrations with Legion of Superheroes. I'm a long-time Legionaire fan but I even I had to drop the title ages ago after the relaunch in 2004. However LOSH years ago was a great title! The best run was Mark Waid' and Tom McGraw's 1994-2000 run and Abnett and Lanning's run (2000-2004). The 1994 Zero Hour launch is a good primer for new readers because they did a good job re-introducing the characters and the writing/art were superb. If you're puzzled why there are so many LOSH, give that 10-year run a chance. If I had started reading X-Men in the early 2000's without reading the earlier 70-80's run, I probably wouldn't think anything of the series. But if I were to introduce X-Men to a new reader, I would start with the Claremont/Byrne and Claremont/Romita run not the new stuff (even though the X-books had gotten better). Don't base Legion of Superheroes by the crap in the recent years but from the storylines that made them great.
June 24, 2011 7:10 pm I must say that DC had done it right!  This reboot has gotten me interested in reading all these Flashpoint books that if it weren't for the relaunch news, I wouldn't have given it a chance.  The funny thing was when I created my pull-list for the summer, most of my titles were Marvel because of the Fear Itself hype.  Surprisingly the Flashpoint tie-ins were so solid that I've replaced my Marvel pull-list with DC.
June 3, 2011 1:45 pm Thanks for your response to my email Conor!  I didn't know that the Archie "New Look" series existed and will definitely check it out.  I've been lending my copies of "Archie Marries" to family and friends who have dropped the title 20 years ago and like me, are enjoying it.  This is a good time to be an Archie fan.
I consider this to be Archie's version of their MAX, Ultimate, or Vertigo line.
August 23, 2010 7:58 pm I agree with Jimski.  I really think that Avengers Academy is the surprise Avengers book in the market.  If it wasn't for Mike Mckone's art, I wouldn't have given it a chance.  It's a great book!

Opening up a comic store is tough.  I tried opening up an on-line store and after 6 months I closed the business down.  I didn't want to quit my day job, but I really wanted to be in comic book retail.  Each month would be a loss for me and it was very hard to compete with the already established e-tailers.  Mind you, my goal wasn't to make a profit.  I just didn't want to lose money.  The online thing was just supposed to be a hobby for me.  What killed me was the shipping costs.  I don't know how other online stores can ship products so cheap considering that I use the same shipping services.  I lost about $8000 in the 6 months and decided to cut my losses.  But those 6 months was fun!  I'm glad that I got it out of my system.

But if you devote 100% of your time in it, I think that you can make it work.
