April 30, 2018 11:53 am I'm bummed that I am just now posting this because I am curious to know what other people think and I fear that the conversation might be over: Does anyone else think that they could get away with not putting a superhero name or group in the title? I feel like the Marvel brand is so well known now after 10 years that if they put out "Marvel's Infinity War" instead of tagging it an Avengers film it would still have the sales. This would also open up the franchise for cool team-ups: you could have a Spider-man/Dr. Strange/Black Widow movie without having to call it an Avengers film. Does anyone else think this could work, or will they never do that for fear that ticket sales would take a hit?
April 23, 2018 1:42 pm Also, I tried to tell my wife what a crazy coincidence that was and she didn't care.
April 23, 2018 1:41 pm Conor, you said that it was 11 years away, but they weren't on a twice monthly schedule then. You also said that there was a very real possibility that the comics wouldn't be around by then, and that blew Ron away. There was doubt that any Marvel books would reach that, and then Josh said that he was going out on a limb that 2000 AD would be it. The person who emailed also asked if you thought you all would still be reading comics then, and what you would be reading, but you deftly avoided that question. Ross from Waterloo, if you are out there, now you know!
April 23, 2018 1:06 pm So yesterday while working in the backyard I was continuing my travels backward through the podcast feed and listened to #131 from May 2008. I believe that was the podcast you were remembering, Conor. I couldn't believe that I just happened upon it in the same week that Action #1000 came out.
February 27, 2018 9:31 am So, is Parth's superpower mean that the tea is always perfect for him or perfect for everyone? If he was to make tea for me would it be to his specifications or would it be to mine?
July 3, 2017 8:49 am Great show as always. I loved your tangent about styrofoam and had to put in my two cents. From what I have heard (I can't name a source, so read this with that in mind) paper cups (especially ones for hot drinks with the waxy coating inside) are just as bad for the environment as styrofoam: just different parts of the environment. Styrofoam doesn't decompose, so it is horrible after it is made, but paper cups cause a lot more air pollution, so they are horrible while being made. My vote is to go back to the Flintstones age and use animal bladders!
May 30, 2017 10:01 am Conor, I am right there with you on the Justice Society of America 1992 trade. It has been on my mental wish list for quite a while, and then they teased us with a solicitation and I put it on my actual Amazon wish list. I was heartbroken when I saw it became "unavailable". Now, every time I buy something from Amazon I have to be reminded that I won't be getting it any time soon.
May 16, 2017 10:50 am My wife and I are currently watching through Frasier and since we are in the "curly mullet" era, I'm going with that. I don't have Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, but...I'm listening.
May 8, 2017 9:54 am Josh, I was still listening! iFanboy is the only podcast that I don't skip through ads or stop before the end, because you never know where comedy gold might be hiding.
October 26, 2016 3:28 pm As a married man I do think it is a generalization to say that no one wants to read about married couples, but I can understand that it might not sell comics. I do agree that marrying off “single” characters is a bad idea, but for characters that have long-term relationships from the beginning I think it can work. I love reading Elongated Man and Sue stories, and Hawkman and Hawkgirl stories really hit home with me (how more romantic can you get than finding and losing the love of your life throughout time?) Do I expect everyone to agree? No, but I do think there might be a niche market for it, and I believe that in the right hands (probably someone who is married) there could be a good book about a married couple out there.
