March 23, 2011 4:41 pm I'd like to see the New Mutants as a TV show, as long as it's not on the CW.
March 21, 2011 10:19 pm Hmphf.

All I know is, he's come a long way from 3rd Rock from the Sun.
March 21, 2011 1:50 pm Lot of great stuff this week. Nice!
March 18, 2011 10:34 am Certainly economics plays a huge role. But there's proabably also another factor.

I think every aspiring comic artist wants to draw sequentials. But after you've been grinding away at pages for years on end, you're probably burnt out, or ready to try something different, or a combination of both.

So it's also the idea of career progression -- wanting to dedicate more time to making one piece of art look perfect, vs. rushing through panel after panel to meet a deadline -- that may get make people move on to covers only.
March 17, 2011 1:20 pm That's unfortunate -- I'm a huge Aronofsky fan -- but there are lots of great directors out there. Let's see who they get next.
March 16, 2011 10:20 am I like the first trailer far more. This one gave us some more shots, but I thought the music, and framing the story around the Cuban Missile Crisis was really powerful in the first one.

Then again, if I understood Russian maybe this would have been just as strong.

@itsbecca - Thanks for the translation. After reading it, I think this trailer probably gets to the heart of the film's story more than the first trailer.
March 9, 2011 1:50 pm @charlesp1138  - Actually, I'm pretty sure TMZ actually pays people, like their reporters and papparazzi.  This 180 degrees from Bluewater, from my understanding.
March 8, 2011 1:19 pm When I first heard about Heath Ledger as the Joker there was a brief "what?". But anyone who's seen his work knows how versatile of an actor he is. And Christopher Nolan isn't your typical studio director, and he wouldn't be pushed into casting someone that didn't work, so after my initial befuddlement, I wasn't too worried.

I thought Reeves was terrible as John Constantine. Indeed, I thought the movie was fairly terrible as well. It didn't have any of the fun of Hellblazer.
March 3, 2011 12:33 pm And by comics in bookstores, I do mean monthlies, not trades.
March 3, 2011 12:32 pm @wallythegreenmonster  - But they do have comics in bookstores still. I see them on spinner racks at places like Borders and I think B&N. Are these guys buying them non-returnable as well? I was under the impression that the mass market still functions on a returnable (or semi-returnable) basis.
