December 14, 2011 11:12 am Honestly, I thought the movie did a lot of things right that people kind of gloss over. First and foremost, Destro was a Scottish arms dealer who fronted M.A.R.S., so many people get confused by the cartoon as he sounded much different, but that's what he was in the Hama comics. I remember Ron being so upset on the SE Podcast that it was M.A.R.S. and not ARBCO, but Cobra didn't exist yet and M.A.R.S. was where all the weapons came from. Secondly, Cobra Commander was American. Sure he wasn't the used car salesmen he was portrayed in the comics, but I think it's very important that CC be American as to not have some sort of random foreign enemy. Snake Eyes Vs. Storm Shadow, besides the fact that SE had a molded mouth on his mask, everything here was done right. Granted SE wasn't a Vietnam Vet (that would have been weird) but a kid when he met SS, but he was taken into the Arashikage family and was thought of very fondly by the Hard Master, who was then in turn killed, which was made to look like SS, but in fact the true killer is in the movie as well. Fun tech, weapons and vehicles that just scream JOE, while there weren't a ton of recognized vehicles that were toys, they did have a lot of fun tech and stuff. And lastly, this was the origin of Cobra so to all of those who were upset that Cobra didn't look like they should, well, they weren't supposed to...yet. I know I'm forgetting a few things, but I just wanted to point out that the movie got more right than most people think. There's a lot more in the movie based from Hama's comics than the cartoon, which is fine by me as the cartoon was never "canon" to me.

December 5, 2011 11:42 am I don't feel bad for the retailers who boycott, or the ones who are racist, or the ones who just run a horrible shop, but the ones who are trying to run a successful comic business. Just using me as an example, who 2 years ago routinely bought 20-35 titles a month, and am now down to 8 print titles, with the rest either digital, or just plain dropped, there is a shift in the business that may never recover. For those who are good shop owners, there may just not be enough buyers around to keep a shop open, and the publishers do what they have to keep THEIR business going. Those are the ones I feel for.

December 5, 2011 9:21 am I wouldn't say that Print and digital customers are two different sets of customers. I was a hardcore print guy, but as the prices and convenience of digital gets better (plus I'm not stuck with an actual paper product I have to figure out what do with when I've read it), I've dropped a lot of print titles, but I still buy a few. I think that there are a lot of us out there who do buy both and a move like this on Dark Horse's part could have a strong effect swaying people more towards digital. I do think this will have a negative impact on retailers, and I do feel bad for them, as most are just out to make an honest business but they are chained to the Diamond system and that is really what is turning people off. A lot of retailers try hard to be great for their customers with price and availability, but it's hard to beat this.

November 17, 2011 4:24 pm I certainly am not on any type of Let's Hate Marvel bandwagon, but I can say that I read a lot less Marvel books than I used to. I think canceling some books would be good for them. One look through the Marvel Previews shows they put out waaaaay too many books. It might be time for them to tighten their belt. It would be nice to see some solid Marvel runs without renumbering, or name changing, or switching characters titles into another books title. I used to be a big Hulk fan, but I cannot decipher what version of Hulk is in which book or which one actually continues off of my original run of Incredible Hulk.
