January 11, 2013 5:58 pm I am going with bruce timm. His elegant slickness art deco gotham cityscape made the perfect prowling ground for batman to stalk the shadows. His character designs are beautiful. He really turned me on to that classic style of art that you see a lot nowadays with some of the more critically acclaimed books around like daredevil and fury max and what's going on in capullos batman art. With that being said, every time I hear batmans voice in my head, it sounds like kevin conroy. Same goes for pretty much the rest of the cast that was on the animated series. I didn't want to base my argument on the show and not the books.
January 9, 2013 8:41 pm Nightmare? That's kinda harsh. I am enjoying the machine man exposure in red she hulk. But hey, I am a sucker for Jeff Parker. To each his own.
December 10, 2012 5:34 pm It was a doozy. Nick and Frank trudging through the jungles of 'Nam. I dare you to find a better plot.
November 27, 2012 9:01 pm The problem with ditching a run when in it gets stale for a moment is that it might get really cool again. I thought very briefly about dropping x force after the dark angel saga when they did that whole captain britain story. I sucked it up and shelled out 4 a pop and that story arc, while boring and sloppy, dovetailed into some really cool moments for x force. Another shitty part about collecting the whole run is when you hear its getting cancelled and there is no sensible closing point in sight. Happened to me with Black Panther:Man Without Fear. (to hell with your qualms with that title, it ruled) I love that run but don't have the last 2 issues because I feared the let down of the end. And when DC cut off Red Robin for the new 52. I had to get some dumbass rushed story about Red Robin getting revenge on a Captain Boomerang recently returned from the dead. Should have been an epic, got one issue. Ups and Downs to trying to snag those really giant runs. Look for the sure things. Scott Snyder, Brian K Vaughn, Ed Brubaker. Those dudes stick to a title for a while.
November 21, 2012 6:48 pm Holy shit! Gerry Duggan commented on a review I wrote on his own book. My life is cool.

November 16, 2012 5:38 pm I donate all of the old stuff that I would never read again to the high school that I work for. I have decided to only buy series that have retread value. My comic organizational skills are wicked mad tight yo.
October 24, 2012 4:13 pm That post ran way longer than intended. WAY TOO LONG.
October 24, 2012 4:12 pm @KenOchalek: Artists and writers getting a better feel for 20 pages is something I was thinking about a lot recently. I kinda like it. Sure I want more book to read but at what cost? But do I really want more? The answer is no. 20 pages is perfect. It puts less of a strain to add unneeded material. It makes a Splash Page (if executed properly) much more meaningful. I don't know if it's good on the creative teams or the editors part for having a truly meaningful twenty page experience. I feel like Wacker and Pyle have done a tremendous job with editing the both DD and Punisher series. Of course there is Waid and Rucka and each has a very well respected art team, but go through a few issues of either of these series and try to find a panel that isn't needed or doesn't progress the story much. Trust me, you can't do it. I also look at it like this. A half hour tv program, for instance Young Justice or Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes ,with commercials usually only contains 22 minutes of story. A comic has a cover, 20 pages of story, and (not always) a letter page or something of that nature. I tend to take about a minute on each page and it comes out being around 22 minutes to read cover to cover. If you can't say everything you need to say, and show everything you need to show in 22 minutes, then it needs to go back to the drawing board. Edits are crucial, go fuck yourself Liefeld (talk about a guy who needs to be edited) ((I say this because of his hatred of DC editors, he obviously doesn't understand the point of an editor)) As for the 4 dollar price tag. I try to not think about it too much. Sure I don't think I should have to pay an extra buck for a book that has nothing extra to offer me. (Marvel not Dc. DC has added content for there 4 buck books) And it's so blatant that they are only charging that extra dollar because they know that they can get away with it. There is no other reason except that it's a character that is well received by the general public so why not charge an extra dollar. Marvel might not detect this but this is very insulting to me as a fan. While it may not seem like it to them, they are bullying us into paying the extra dollar. At least that is how I feel, like I'm being a bullied by some jr high school dick head who is taking my dollar just because he knows he can. The argument can be made that I don't have to buy the book if I don't want to, and I agree. There lies the 22nd Catch.
