Might be the book I didn’t know I couldn’t live without. Hulk was little me’s favorite character as a child. Growing up, I lost interest. Hulk lost my interest. Another character I loved but lost that loving feeling…Daredevil. That’s not to say I didn’t read bits of DD here and there, as I also did with Hulk, but I was not truly invested in Matt Murdock until Mark Waid contributed a voice to the character. It’s that same equation put to formula with Indestructible. Waid knows why the fans love the characters he rights. Not for their powers or because they look cool, but because they have human characteristics we identify with. In Indestructible, Waid gives us a Bruce Banner who is ready to move on with the constant war he is tied in with Hulk. Let Hulk have his space so Banner is free to create. He realizes a sensible way to go about this, and seizes an opportunity. What could be more human than a down on his luck guy doing something drastic to take advantage of life. Plus, Maria Hill is along for the ride. There is no better costar. Leinil Yucrafts action magic on the page, and from what I know about Yu, we are in store for boatloads of smash. Seeya next week Mark, Leinil, Maria, Bruce, and Hulk, aka my new best friends.
