Kick. Ass.

Waid’s premise for this run is clever, clever, clever.

Plus, Banner isn’t such a whiny-ass. I haven’t read Hulk in decades, but I get the drift from reading previews and reviews that Hulk/Banner was more or less treading water.

Not anymore.I’m in. Hulk is SHIELD’s super weapon. Again, the possibilities are AWESOMELY wide open. Alreay were teased with Hulk Vs. Iron Man! And Big Green takes out the Mad Thinker in this issue!

Waid has a firm grip on this Banner’s character and motivations–Banner wants to be remembered for more than being the embodiment of a wrecking machine (as Waid hilariously points out that Banner’s fear is that his tombstone will simply say “Hulk Smash”).

Yu’s art is great, but a little scratchy and too heavily inked in some panels–but still is a great fit.

Double shipping? This AND Thor? F*ck, man, that’s a lot of dough. We’ll see how long the quality stays up.

Oh, and it’s the nostalgic side of me that absolutely loved to see that even now, the Hulk wears purple pants.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
