  1. i heard the kid gets his claws laced with metal through magic, is that true? this sounds awful

  2. @roivampire: It’s pretty terrible.  I keep wondering, not why they hire Loeb, I understand he has great name recognition, but why they keep approving his stories.  After his last few outings, you’d think Quesada or someone would sit him down and say "Jeph, you really need to work on your plotting skills.  You’re pissing off our fan base."

  3. ultimate dakken? seriously magic? all so he can have metal claws… why does he need metal claws? obviously because he is suppose to become wolverine at some point in time and everyone knows wolverine needs to have metal claws! so much for setting itself apart from the normal marvel u I’m sure he will be saying bub and being the best at what he does in 12 issues (if it makes it that far)

  4. So how does the magic work exactly? all i’ve heard is that magic makes his claws metal

  5. Well, I guess you can think of it as magic. His metal claws are ANOTHER form of mutation. Yep, on top of his healing factor and heightened senses (the heightened senses weren’t hinted at yet, I’m just assuming since he is just like good ‘ol dad), he ALSO has the bone mutation that gives him perfectly sharp claws AND an organic metal mutation same as Colossus but only on his bones… conviniently.

  6. It’s all a bit convinient, but I really had no problem with it.  One issue and one origin.  As Kitty said Colossus had it too.  It certainly beat my expectations.  I’d rather had a somewhat flimsy excuse for metal claws than bones or another experiment.

  7. Akamuu… all morning while eating breakfast I was thinking the same thing. And I reallly don’t think I could have said it any clearer than that. He needs a sit down, plain and simple. This isn’t the mainstream universe, he has free reign to make GREAT stories in a still pretty young world with very little continuity and he doesn’t take any advantage of it.

  8. @Darth: What about Loeb doing something other than metal claws?  Maybe taking a page from Jason Aaron’s "Weapon X" and doing those cool laserish claws, or, perhaps, even coming up with a new, original idea?  Magicing this kid’s claws to make them metal seemed very much "Well, how am I going to make him something familiar?  Hmmm…MAGIC!  Damn it, I’m a geeeeeeeeenius.  That’s right, Lobe, you’ve done it again!  GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENIUS!!!!"  (Sorry, I always picture Jeph Loeb rubbing his hands together and mwa-ha-haing, which I’m sure is not something he has ever done seriously.)
