I was skeptical – The Moore run on ST is probably my favorite run of a book ever. To go back and re-re-reinvent Swamp Thing seemed pretty dumb, and wordy books always make me wary. (Superman #1, I’m looking at you.)
I still wish they would have just let Alec Holland RIP and started the NEXT Swamp Thing, but if this is what they were gonna do, they couldn’t have done it much better.
The words words words were actually pretty clear and well written (tho abandon all hope ye who have never read Swamp Thing who enter here), and the art was gorgeous, with green psychedelia running across the layouts in a manner similar to the Moore run but cleaner and more contemporary, and black gashes in the green stuff’s place on the pages involving Sethe.
Truly horrifying villains, great reveal at the end, and judging by all the flies, I’ll bet someone else from the past is coming….

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
