This is Superman done right, plain and simple.  Johns story has had all of the standard elements of the Superman orgin story that everyone knows and loves. However, he adds in all of these little details and nuances that really flesh out the character and make Superman seem more real. I love how Johns has connected Corbin to Lois and Clark and gave him more of a background before he becomes Metallo.  The writing of Geoff Johns aside, it was the art of Gary Frank that really stood out for me.  No one can convey emotion like Gary Frank.  Everything from a smile to the slightest smirk helps you to get that character and understand their thoughts and feelings.  The best examples of this in the issue are the meeting of Clark and John Corbin and the diner scene with Lois and Clark. There are also some great splash pages of Superman saving the day that look awesome. I also like how Frank draws differences in posture and facial expression between Superman and Clark.
