I really like how this story is starting and where it’s going, the combination of inviting art and a reasonably easy to follow story made for a fresh take on the Superboy origin and so far it’s pretty good.

The introduction of some of the characters had me giddy with excitement for where the future. The nods to who his Human DNA was donated by and how they make him different from Superman were fun; I’m really interested to see where it’s going to go from here.

The only real annoyance I have for this series is that it seems like the following issues are going to be too heavily tied into what’s happening with the new ‘Teen Titans’ book, but I’ll hold judgement on that until I see #2, I do hope it’s not a tie-in series from the start.

Totally agree. I don’t know how Lobdell pulled it off, but he somehow made it charming and not annoying that the two big “secrets” of the series (the true nature of Rose Wilson and who Superboy’s human DNA comes from) are well-known for DC fans and will likely be intriguing hooks for new readers. Very skillfully done and makes me want to recommend the book to my non-comic reader friends to see if the mysteries grab them as much I’d hope.
