I figured this issue didn't have enough reviews at 20! Plus I feel left out, so:

Secret Invasion had a great story. Aliens are coming to earth and they're replacing the superheroes of the world with Skrull soldiers. Not all of the Skrulls support this war, but invading is their last resort to save their culture.

Sounds intriguing, no? I thought so, but I was wrong. So wtf happend? Poor exectution happend. Bendis concocted a magnificent story, but he ruined it by not telling it well. The story in the end felt disjointed and way to scattered. Being scattered doesn't have to be a problem like we have seen with Final Crisis. The difference between these two series however is that Crisis has shown us character moments that have really highlighted the strengths of our heroes, whereas I feel with Secret Invasion all the audience is getting is the resounding words from issue 1 or 2 with Luke Cage saying "Let's kick some ass". Bendis isn't presenting the reader with characters that they should care about, but rather with characters who can fly and shoot sparks out of their eyes, when what the audience truly wants to see is solid character interactions arising from this extreme conflict. We should've been shown moments between Thor, Cap, and Iron Man, but instead we only get silence. Not only are there character moments lacking, but what happend is all around confusing for me.

WTF happend to Janet? "Thor happend". Ok wtf does that mean. All the reader is shown is that Thor spins his hammer and Janet dissapears. What? Her death seemed like just another excuse to get the heroes mad again, like they wouldn't be mad enough that the Skrulls were trying to exterminate/enslave all of mankind. How many times did we see them rally like this, I count at least 5 times throughout the series. Her death was in the end meaningless. Marvel figured they had an important character to the Marvel Universe that no one really cared about so they killed her. We weren't exposed to her the entire Invasion until this point, and poof with a scribble of Bendis's pen shes gone. But, I doubt anyone reading this story really cared. We have no idea what was happening with her biology or what was making everyone throw up around her, all we know is she got big and died. Again, poor execution.

At the begining of this event I was excited to find out who all the Skrulls were. Is Spider Man a Skrull? Iron Man? The whole X-men team? Nope. So who is a Skrull? Well there's Hank Pym, Spider Woman, and Dum Dum... I guess my expectations were just to high.

I recognize Yu as being a great artist, but frankly I'm just not a fan of his art. Yu tends to black out the eyes in many of his pictures that do in fact need eyes to express feeling, like on page 27 with the interaction between Iron Man and Captain America. Another example of this can be seen on the oppisite page(26) where the FF are looking up and it looks like they're all going into a coma. Speaking of page 26 what exactly happend at the bottom of the page? It just seems rushed. Also I'm not sure how these shadow people work that we've been exposed to throughout the series. Do people just dissapear in the Marvel Universe now into darkness? On pg 27 where we can see Thors hair and nothing else of him, what happend? This whole series the norm has been that your either fully black or your not... this just seems inconsistent, and made me stop while reading this issue.

The biggest reason I'm coming down on this book is because I don't feel I got what I paid for, or what I was promised.
