Remember when I said I'd read all six issues again before I wrote this review? Well, I didn't have to considering I spent the first 20 pages being recapped on everything which had transpired up to that point..

But some things did happen..  Like, Thor and Cap shook hands? aaaaaaaannnnd they fought for about two pages.. or is that four?

Anyway, I guess I should begin by saying, I didn't set out to make this anyones favorite book. It can be understandably dull. It's just that, for some reason, I can only stand so much negativity surrounding something. Maybe it's the challenge of the argument that attracts me. Maybe it just seems too easy, agreeing with what everyone else has already said.

What's the challenge in fueling a fire that already burns when you can start a new one?

It may be a bit naieve of me, trying to remind people that sometimes the characters' interactions can be more important than the overall story. But their relationships really are what define that which transpires. Write your own story sometime and you'll find that good characters write themselves. Marvel's heroes had their backs to the wall and were forced into concessions. This is what had to happen. 

So the Marvel Universe begins anew with the words: "Avengers Assemble!"

.. and I realized, by the wisdom of Thomas Katers, that all stories must come to an end for most readers. Not everyone, mind you. As I'm sure some of you will inevitably be here arguing the impact of this event twenty years from now, but I probably won't.

And it's not that I'll all of a sudden stop caring about the characters which I so much enjoy, but I'll likely tire of their countless battles against the forces of evil. Because it's likely to be the same thing again and again, and bring with it the same complaints again and again and I'm just not into beating a dead horse.

I read comics now because I always wanted to know what it was like to read these wonderful pieces of sequential art, delving a little deeper into the background of characters I love so much, who have adorned everything from my lunch-box to my gas-powered RC car. I genuinely care about them and their well-being, so I'm a bit elated to see them getting back on track.

You don't have to like Secret Invasion. My argument is only that you could like it for said reasons: blah.. blah.. blah..  You could hate it for a lot of reasons, too. You see, I read it and I'm privy to them as well. I also know a good story when I see one and, while this one's certainly lacking, I've seen worse.

With that said I'm off to read the rest of my books and start trying to decide what independent books I'm going to read when my end of story comes. Ta' for now.
