Well, I didn't see that coming! Between this and Last of the Greats over at Image, I have made that statement quite a few times recently. I guess I should be used to Fialkov dropping surprises on me by now, but he keeps on getting me.
I thought this was a very well done issue. One of my favorite parts of this series has been the fact that Andrew and this breed of Vampire can change from bats to dragons, and even wolves. It makes for some awesome storytelling opportunities, and Sorrentino does a masterful job of handling the transformations mid-action. I guess for now we are going to be following Tig and John around since our assumed protagonist is a pile dust? I may miss the detached from humanity-but willing to save it-charisma that Andrew had, but the ramafications of this issue should be really fun to watch play out over the next few issues.
I'm already reading JLD so the crossover thing doesn't bug me, but I'm guessing it will irk some, oh well. All in all I give Fialkov and Sorrentino big props for writing/drawing an engaging horror story set in the greater DCU that doesn't disappoint or feel out of place at all. They are taking some risks with this book and in my opinion it is paying off. I hope more people read this besides the current 287 pullers, because this book deserves more attention. It is doing what everyone supposedly wants, telling NEW stories, so we should reward that. If you haven't checked this out yet or are on the fence at least look for the first trade when it comes out.

Sorry, when I typed it out there were paragraphs.
I think you have to put in HTML markup to get paragraphs and lists to work. Nice review though, I feel the same. I hope people are reading it and talking about it – I’d hate for this book to get cancelled!
