Back in 1998, I started picking up the Marvel Knights Daredevil, just because of Kevin Smith. I knew of Daredevil at the time, I just had very limited exposure. Daredevil very quickly became my favorite character. I don’t know what appealed to me really. I don’t have any particular disability to relate to him with. I just think he’s a great character. I’ve read a lot more Daredevil since. Some good, some not so good, so f’ing awful. I’ve read Daredevil where he fought a villain that became a villain because he got hit in the face with too many pies. That last bit before the Marvel Knights relaunch was rough.

When most people think good Daredevil, they think of Frank Miller, and with good reason. Brian Micheal Bendis made an indelible mark too. This series adds Mark Waid to that list. This is damn good Daredevil. Waid has elevated my favorite character to heights I have never seen before.

I knew this book was going to be great before I even opened it. I was trying to find the best page, or panel to mention specifically in my review. There is no best page. The entire book is the best page. Marcos Martin is absolutely killing it on this book. The art evokes a feeling of old school simplicity, long before the days of over rendered and hyper detailed modern comic art. Layouts are fantastic.

People have said that this is the best book at Marvel right now. It is. It’s probably also the best book in comics right now. I never want this to end.

Thanks guys, for treating my favorite character right.
