I really dug the original Batwoman run, the first arc. The second one I thought was just alright. But I love JH Williams III’s art, to me he is buy far the most talented illustrator working in comics today. And a great story teller, did I have concerns about his writing ability? No, not really. It was because of his skill as a story teller, and he knocked it out of the park. With the assist of W. Haden Blackman of course, can’t forget that contribution.

Things I liked, Bette Kane. An odd hold over from the 50’s that was always hard to explain since Babs emerge in the 60’s. Yet the original Batwoman was a creation that was hard for writers to avoid using, she made appearances in the 70’s until she was killed, Morrison used her recently in Batman INC, with Bette as the original Batgirl. So I guess no matter who things seem new they can be hard to explain, but I liked seeing Bette with Batwoman (too bad she can’t use the name Batgirl), and Chase, that was a cool subplot. This book stood out because it didn’t seem like 6 issue story arcs, it looked as if multiple plot threads will play out as the series moves along.

A very refreshing change of pace.
