To begin...I'm new to Batman. I just got into it at RIP and have been following it since. With that said... I loved this book.
I was afraid that because i'm not too familiar with Batman, that there would be characters from over the years come back into the spotlight that would give fans that "holy shit" feeling, and that I would be left wikipedia'ing for 45 minutes after i finished the issue. But that wasn't the case. I was familiar with the villain. Not only was I familiar, but it gave me that very "holy shit" moment I was fearful I'd miss.
I really dug the fact that Arkham got destroyed also. Now I don't know how many, if at all, this has happened in the past, but it made me feel like i was witnessing a big event. The great thing about this book, to me, was that at the end, i really did feel like i was reading something huge.
Tony Daniel's art was great. My favorite panel of the whole book i think was the picture of "Batman" looking out over Gothem from on top of a gargoyle. Great issue.

Everybody escaped from Arkham again, huh? Didn’t Bane blow a big hole in it during the beginning of Knightfall? Can you say rerun?
That did happen in Knightfall, I don’t think this is going to go the same way as the Bane arcs did though.
even if it is similar, reboots are all the rage now right?
yeah, like i mentioned, i’m rather new to the series, so it new to me =)
People escape from Arkham all the time, that’s just a conceit of the book. That’s like complaining how many times the X-mansion gets blown up.
i was referring to the destruction of arkham, not people escaping. Withiin the short time i’ve been reading batman ive read about over a dozen characters escaping.
Yeah, but it seems like everytime their is a major arc in the Batman mythos about to go down, some shit happens at Arkham Asylum too. Bane blew a damn hole and let like half the inmates get out back in the beginning of Knightfall. Then the Black Glove took control over Arkham during R.I.P. Now before the prisoners can be moved back into Arkham after the Black Glove got chased out, this new Black Mask dude blows it up. Shit, what’s next? A Batman video game for XBOX and PS3 that takes place in Arkham Asylum?
