March 7, 2011 7:52 pm Last month I blindly funded El Vocho by Steve Lafler and it turned out to be terrific and right an alley I didn't even know I had (wow that's ripe with innuendo). That got me to check out some of his older Bughouse stuff from Top Shelf, and that's fantastic as well. I love a good surprise.
December 10, 2010 4:52 pm This book is really smart, really heavy. Glad you're showing it to such a large audience. Though the first printing has already run out. Hopefully they get a second printing started soon!
GreenBillBlue, the Absolutes are a considerably oversized reprinting of some of the biggest stories from DC Comics. Omnibuses are any collection of things that is all encompassing. It's not a Marvel or DC specific thing.
And more to this book specifically, I'll be double dipping on these. These were the books that pulled me into the DC universe. That's pretty special.
April 23, 2010 12:13 pm I loved BodyWorld and it worked perfectly as a webcomic. The story was great, but I'm most interested in seeing how it transitioned into a printed work. If you've seen the comic on his website each chapter is divided into two massive vertically scrolling sections. Not your typical book format, to say the least.
November 9, 2009 3:11 pm Very cool. I have several collections of Bloom County already in soft covers. Behind Calvin and Hobbes and Far Side (which really pushes the idea of comic, one panel isn't really sequential is it) Bloom County was the comic strips I collected most. This might sound slight, but bear in mind I have 6 or 7 collections of C&H and Far Side a piece.
I just wanted to throw in more support for vandamowens. Just being there and teaching means the world to some of these kids, whether they can articulate it or not. Keep working, keep caring, it makes more of a difference than I think we ever know.
