And so it comes full circle to an end.

I don’t necessarily understand what has happened, I’m not sure I know all of the connections and can connect the plot. I do feel a bit too much that I’d like I having ROBW close out before this, but this is a celebration. This is the grand finale of what has been one of (if not the single) best ongoing series over the past year and a half.

Batman and Robin has made Dick Grayson a character I care about, has made Damien Wayne the most exciting new character in years, has introduced the creepiest villain in all of comics with Pyg, has had moments of outstanding art, terrible art and dialogue that is equal parts cryptic and hilarious.

I’m sure, as most people will say, that when ROBW ends, we’re going to have to go back to the beginning of RIP and Final Crisis and read everything again, straight through. It’d be wonderful if there was some legendary omnibus that collected everything Morrison over the past few years in order to make a little more sense of this (but we know this will never happen). But whatever. Batman & Robin is the only bat book I buy, and after the Cornell issue, I’ll probably stop. But for the past year and a half, through the confusing and the enlightening, this has been a series worth caring about. It’s been a series worth talking even during Blackest Night.

I want the ride to continue, I love this new Gotham.

  1. Absolutely agree. If nothing else, Morrison has made me care about Damien. I didn’t expect that. And what a fun issue. The page of yellow-backed panelled fighting was great.

  2. Dick Grayson as the original Robin, and eventually as Nightwing, has always been one of my fave characters, am gonna continue to be not completely comfortable with him being Batman, wish he went back to being NW personally, but yea, love Damian Wayne as a character, real excited about his presence in the DCU.
