The wait is FINALLY over and we get another helping of Grant Morrison and Frazier Irving on this fantastic series. We get more craziness and overall insanity with the Joker and Dr. Hurt. But we also get a very surprised ending out this issue.

I want Grant Morrison to write the Joker forever. Sorry Mr. Dini; I will always love your take on the villain but Morrison just makes him insane to the ‘n’th degree. (Or ‘sanity squared’ as Joker puts it here) There are some great sequences with Pyg, Comissioner Gordon, Dr. Hurt, and Damien as well. It really is more of the same when you think about it. Not a slight on Morrison; but if you loved the previous two issues of this arc then you’ll love this one as well. My only problem with this issue was the end though. Not just because it makes ‘Return of Bruce Wayne’ look worse with it’s lateness; but it raises a lot of questions about the time this arc takes place. If this character is back; then why hasn’t (he/she) shown up before? How long has this person been back? Why would he/she let all of this horrible stuff happen until now? Raises a lot of questions again and not in the good sense…

The art by Irving is still pretty damn good; some of his best in a while. I love some of the small touches in this like how you can see Alfed’s face in an ipod when the reporters are at the manor. Overall though he justs gives off a creepy vibe like this arc should have. Whether it’s Joker dancing with a Skeleton or that final image in the book…..It all looks really creepy. Again if you loved the other two issues; then you’ll love the art in this.

So while the continuity of this issue is a bit suspect after the ending; I really did like this issue. Everything is really coming to an end with this series and even with the confusing ending; the final issue by Morrison is gonna be a very fun ride.

  1. I get it, you don’t like the books to be late.  Get over it, it’s a fact of the comic book industry.

  2. Also, continuity does not always fit.  You have been reading comics for long enough to know that you have to let the stories play out before you can determine where you will fit them in the timeline.

Let it play out, if it still does not work, then it’s an issue.  But you are assuming facts that are not in evidence yet.

  3. And you’re writing "Damien" when it’s supposed to be "Damian" (since we’re all piling on ;)).

Forgot when the last issue came out or how long till the next installment as soon as I saw the first page of this. When a comic’s this epic, I’m just lost in the moment of it.

Agree with wanting Morrison to write the Joker forever.

  4. Morrison continuity NEVER fits.  Look back at RIP and Final Crisis.  It annoys the hell out of me too.  The Road Home shouldn’t have even started yet, but most of it isn’t worth a damn anyway so…
