  1. Man, Marvel is just rolling out this fugly banners of late. :-p Still excited for this book, hope the crossover doesn’t hurt the book’s momentum.

  2. All of you guys made me turn into a fan.

But then Parker gives us an Avenger Academy crossover? Boo-urns.

  3. Does anyone know if Kev Walker will be back after the Shadowland crossover? Because his work is beautimus.

  4. Thunderbolts has been underwhelming til last issue. Now I’m looking forward to it.

  5. @OttoBott Yes he is. Or at least Shalvey is only on for the two issues. I actually prefer Shalvey but to each his own.

  6. I’ve never read thunderbolts. do you think this book will be an alright place to start, or should I wait?

  7. @Minion – I love ’em both, but Walker moreso. If they tag-teamed the title, I’d be in heaven.

  8. @Myncy: Go for it.

  9. @Myncy get the first three issues of the of Parker & Walker’s run. The book is fun and the issue before this one was a rollicking good time.

  10. Thunderbolts has been the best Avengers series so far.

  11. @ AmirCat – Much agreed.

  12. @thenextchampion

The previews for this issue show the text “for another viewpoint of this story see Avengers Academy 3-4”

It sounds as if this more fluent compared to a standard crossover.

  13. I have only read one or two Thunderbolts issues before, but I’m going to pick this up for the cross over. Avenger’s Initiative and Academy have been great books so I’m hoping this can equal it.

  14. Is that banner on the actual comic? It looks like too tall of a rectangle. Anyway, been reading T-bolts since issue 100. As noted above, a great Avengers title.

  15. Give this book a try… I am new to Thunderbolts with the Heroic Age stuff and I have really enjoyed it so far. Great team dynamic and they have been painted into a very precarious situation.

  16. Is this taking a break from the bad ass ending of 146? Are they throwing the cross-over in the middle of the arc? I love both books but want Thunderbolts to continue with the mission to cave!

  17. Well Kev Walker comes back for #150. Which is where it has the Avengers fight we saw from the teaser and it’ll be 96 pages! Sweet!

  18. I haven’t read any Thunderbolts in a long while. I’ll be picking this up because of the crossover with the Avengers Academy. AS a fan of Jeff PArker I’m sure it will be pretty good.

  19. bleh… not really needed for the Avengers academy storyline.  Suckered into buying it because of the banner. Wish I hadn’t. I probably won’t be picking up any more of this series. Besides the whole "i have nanites in my brain so I must do good" annoys me.

  20. Crossbones really shouldnt be a thunderbolt, just doesnt work for me. He better go bad soon but even then… how could they not see that coming?>?

  21. This is how you do a crossover issue. Awesome from start to finish.

  22. Having this as a ‘crossover’ to Avengers Academy made no sense here. It’s like saying that the Avengers were in a crossover with this title because they were in the background for 3 panels. Seriously this issue didn’t felt needed, or just not needed for a stupid money gimmick.

Cause honestly this series doesn’t need anything else but the talent to make this a big seller. Even with a pointless plot conceit I still had a lot of fun with the issue. The fight sequence of using different thirds to show different perspectives was fantastic.

    4/5

  23. @RoiVampire  I totally agree.  Loved the crossover.  Interested to see what happens to conclude this.

  24. I really like when they handle crossovers like this.  Thunderbolts and Avengers Academy tell two different stories around the same plot.  You’re not forced to buy both but rather enticed to buy the other if you want the other side of the story.  I skipped Avengers Academy but might pick it up when in the shop next week after reading this.

As far as this being another issue of T-bolts – freaking awesome.  Every character in this issue is completely bad ass.  And that artwork… beautiful.  This is easily tied by Thanos Imparitive for being my favorite Marvel title right now.

  25. @TNC

The crossover aspect is more apparent if you read Avengers Academy.

    Personally, I liked this.

  26. @NawidA That would seem to be his point. This issue rather deftly glosses over anything to really do with Avengers Academy.

  27. great issue. loved it.

  28. @NawidA/Praxjarvin: Yeah that’s my point. It seemed to be a big deal that this was going to be important to Avengers Academy readers since it involves the Thhderbolts. But Parker, wisely I might add, pretty much ignored those characters and did an issue of just the Thunderbolts handling the break out.

I’m fine with that premise of a break out. But to pointlessly try and advertise a horrible team guest starring in a fantastic title really bugged me.

  29. @TNC C’mon man, this is an election year, you have bigger things to be mad about. I don’t even like Avengers Academy and I don’t give a flip what they put on the cover of T-Bolts as long as i get a good story

  30. Cats are missing out on Avengers Academy. After a good first issue, the last two issues have been excellent to perfect.

Parker is a great writer, but Gage’s Avengers Initiative/Academy run is about great writing that doesn’t rely on fans’ character loyalties or character recognition.

I highly recommend checking out the book.

  31. Avengers Academy certainly isn’t the most perfect Avenger book, but it’s sure as hell better than at least 2 of the other titles.

I had fun here, especially during the John Walker scenes.

  32. That fight scene with Luke Cage and the guy in the wheelchair was awesome.

  33. …Walker’s art may be winning me over. I still think that out of costume most of the people look terrible but the fights in this were awesome. A serious contender for my Pick of the Week.

  34. Who is this Troll character that saved Songbird?  Liked seeing the interpersonal conflict between Moonstone and Songbird continue.  And biodefenses, brilliant.

  35. @Franktiger She was just introduced in the last arc. The former prisoner from Asgard who was raised by trolls.

  36. Ooh yea, thas right, cool thx!
