  1. Love this character, therefore i need to try this

    • By the way how many issues you think this series will run before it ends up getting cancelled? Theres no way this can sustain sales then again who knows if they even plan to keep it, it might just be a series used to promote the upcoming event they have planned.

    • Most people aren’t big on Didio, so I doubt this will have a long run. I will be surprised if it lasts until the next wave.

  2. Someone made a comment on another board that I thought was very insightful so I’ll repeat it, this book HAS TO BE written by Didio. With the tie-in to Trinity War, this is going to be so picked over by editorial that there’s no point in giving anyone else credit.

    • Well let’s hope Didio doesn’t do the stupid thing and give the Phantom STRANGER a definitive origin, cause if he does there is no way in hell im reading this after the 0 issue.

Also I like the fact that they didn’t change his costume.

  3. Phantom Stranger, Madame Xanadu, and the other mysterious forces in DC are the best. Did you watch the short cartoon that came with Shazam vs. Superman for The Spectre? If not, check that out and tell me that this can’t be told in some fun ways!

  4. Only getting this for The Question.

  5. Having had very limited experience with this character, I find the premise intriguing. I’m picking this up in the faint hope that somehow, some way, The Spectre might find his way into the post-Flashpoint DCU through it.

  6. One of my all-time favorite c-list characters! Yay!

  7. I’m stoked for this but I am a little let down by the origin they are giving him. If you look at the preview up from DC you know almost instantly who the Stranger is.

  8. Thank god Didio did OMAC because if he didn’t I would question on buying this. But I love Stranger and OMAC made me think Didio CAN be a good writer. Hopefully the art is good because Brent Anderson, lately, hasn’t been that great.

  9. I’ve got a feeling I could be one and done with this book. I liked Didio’s work in Wednesday Comics, but his Outsiders was horrible. Maybe all the universal forces will align and this book will magically be good?

  10. This was great and highly recommended pick up!!!

  11. Liked this a lot. Sets up a great, otherworldly tone. I’ve never had too much attachment to the ol’ PS (aside from thinking that his outfit was totally bitchin’), but I actually like his new origin. Gives him a character at all, and a goal.

  12. I thought it was a good read and love it that The Spectre is back!!

  13. A fun old school horror comic. Well done Didio & Anderson, i’ll pick up #1.

  14. Don’t want to spoil it here – but was it painfully obvious to everyone else who PS was?

  15. I admit it was better than I expected, I would probably check out an ongoing, at least for a couple issues. I am pretty against giving PS a real origin, mystery is part of the characters appeal. Still, the origin presented here was pretty good. The council of wizards, I imagine, will be elaborated on down the line. Also, is pandora aware of the old dcu and why did she change it? Questions I look forward to seeing addressed.

    • In the FCBD issue The Trinity of Sin clearly knew and mentioned the old DCU…Bats has that letter.. and I’m sure Flash remembers quite a bit. Why have all of this if they didnt plan on bringing back old faithful in some way or form? Just my thought.

  16. Big fan of the Stranger and i really liked this issue. I kinda wish it was less wordy in the beginning..more abstract or even poetic. The art was good, but it was straight forward. I wished it was more dark and mysterious.

The storyline opens a bit of a theological quandary but still fun none the less. Really glad the Phantom Stranger is back in the DCU.

  17. This was a very cool issue. I’m kind of looking forward to the big Trinity War even next year. I’m curious how all this is going to tie together.
