  1. I’m so freaking excited for this!

  2. I am really hoping for the donatello cover but I wasn’t smart enough to pre-order, so I’m rolling the dice. no raph, no raph

  3. Can’t wait to read my first turtle comic.

  4. I really hope they do the Comic Turtles justice here. I ultimately wonder if the Viacom sale has taken the soul of the TMNT. We’ll see.

  5. SO excited for this. I love the Turtles. Going for all four covers, because I’m a sucker like that.

  6. Hell yes

  7. can’t wait!!!

  8. Been waiting for this for months. Hurry up and be Wednesday already!

  9. And open question to all those excited about the IDW TMNT series. Did any of you read the most recent Mirage TMNT series, or Tales of the TMNT? I’m legitimately curious.

  10. It’ll be different without Peter Laird on board, and I don’t think the original run can be topped, but this looks like a groovy new life for the TMNT comic scene.

  11. So looking forward to this!

Also is majority of IDW comics 3.99?? Im not a buyer of their stuff usually

Will be interested to see what people think of some significant changes to the origin story. I’m digging it though.

    • its been so long for me…i’ve probably forgotten everything about those comics. Kind of looking forward to checking this out with fresh eyes.

    • your right the orgin was way diff then the orginal but i welcomed the change it was a fresh new look @ TMNT w/ Baxter Stockman making a super solider serium for Kerang and the end was awesome w/ Raph busting down Casey’s door cause is dad is beating him and love the part where Raph pulled the Cowabunga shirt out of the trash and said no way

  13. God, yes. I didn’t even know about this, and now I want to know about it forever. Give to me.

  14. I’m on board. Feels natural to have a monthly Turtles book

  15. Here’s to hoping for mecha turtle.

  16. I really like the Sam Kieth cover

  17. Looking for nostalgia and something new!

  18. The SDCC Ashcan was a lot of fun – really looking forward to this!

  19. Has anybody got a copy of this? None of the comic shops in my area were able to get it. Delayed?

  20. Overall I liked it and I am definitely going to pick up issue 2. I have to say though that it is a bit jarring to read, since the entire TMNT story has been completely re-imagined and is very much a departure from any of the origins from the original Eastman/Laird comic, the 80’s/90’s cartoon series, and the 1990 movie.
Although, so far so good. I look forward to reading more of this new series, especially since Kevin Eastman is involved.

  21. Got the last copy in my store and made sure to tell my guy to keep one aside for when it comes in. Really excited to read this.

  22. I was really surprised that i liked this so much. Great start.

  23. Goddamn this is what I want from a comic book. It was so much fun and I’m excited to see where they take these characters. For a first issue we really didn’t get much time with the main characters, but I still loved it. Pick of The Week.

  24. Meh. I may give it another issue or two to gain traction but not seeing this staying long term for me.

  25. This was a four star book… Until the words “General Krang” were uttered.

Why can’t I give a book six stars?

  26. I can’t find a copy anywhere in the UK. Not cool 🙁

    • get in touch with me I’ll grab one from my local shop and mail you if you pay ($3.99+shipping, probably comes to about what….3 euros……errrrr……1 pound?)

  27. FING AWESOME

  28. T-U-R-T-L-E Power! Awesome stuff. The origin of April O’Neill is interesting. I’ve never read the 80’s TMNT series so all I know about April is tha she wears a yellow jumpsuit, and she’s a reporter. Was she also a reporter in the original Eastman run?

The issues takes me back to the movie as well with Raphael being the rogue turtle. Good stuff. I’m hoping all my childhood favorites show up; the Rat King, Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang to name a few!

    • I wouldn’t count on this having Bebop or Rocksteady at least not the way they were in the TV show. I grew up on that show as well and then read Eastman/Laird’s comics years later. They are very different. April’s story in this is far more accurate than the original shows TV reporter storyline. In the new show that aired for a few years, they did a better job of capturing the comics. I’m not even sure Krang is going to brain, but we’ll see.

  29. I liked it fine. Despite having a fairly different origin story than any other TMNT series, there were lots of callbacks to previous incarnations of the turtles. April in a yellow shirt got a chuckle from me. Some lines seemed kinda awkward but overall the writing got the job done. I liked the art a bit better and I feel it really suits the TMNT. The dark inks and colors set the tone very well.

I’ll give the first arc a try and go from there.

  30. Loved this issue. A little confusing since it’s a departure from the general knowledge I accumulated over the years (well the cartoon, the movies and all that jazz). But all in all I’m happy I picked it up and I can’t wait for issue #2! 🙂

  31. I’m a huge turtles fan and I’ll stay on for a while to see how it picks up but this wasn’t doing a lot for me. I guess I just have to come to terms with it not being the same old song and dance I’m used to. Also some of the dialogue was a bit wonky.

  32. Love the self degradizing humor. Love the way they played with the mythos. Great job!

  33. HOLLY SHELL this was awesome! I never thought I would be reading a TMNT comic book. I have never been so proud to be reading comic books.

  34. All i can say is awesome.

I’m going back to my LCS tomorrow to try and pick up all the rest of the covers now. I can’t stop smiling, this was everything i hoped for and more.
