  1. I think Superman should stick with the new uniform, the underwear over the tight tights look is getting way old now.  Same with Batman.

  2. Now we just need this book to turn into a buddy cop movie with Clark being Riggs and Zod being Murtaugh. Can’t you just picture Zod sitting on a toilet strapped with a kryptonite bomb and constantly saying he’s too old for this shit?

Or maybe Zod can come to bail Clark out of jail and find him singing Roxanne.

Ohhh, even better, Clark gets turned into a dog and Zod gets pissed when he drools all over his cars interior! Genius!

  3. @Robby-Those costumes are iconic.  I don’t know why you would ever want them to change.

I want to see Supes training some noobs on how to use their heat vision.   And why would Kryptonians need spears?

  4. I’m not reading this….but i had to comment on how much i LOVE the cover.

  5. I am with Fvckstick, that cover is fantastic.  I cannot wait for the origin mini with Franks!

  6. @drake While they are iconic, that doesn’t mean that they’re free from reproach or that they can’t be considered dated. Plus, Batman’s costume has changed, subtly, over the years where as Clark’s has essentially been the difference between length of underwear and whether he has cuffs or not.

Looking forward to this. The other books have me jazzed.

  7. @drake. ha ha. good question. stupid comic books!

anyhow, the last issue was surprisingly good. Robinson and Rucka make a fantastic writing team

  8. The spears are clearly ceremonial, left over from the days before they could fly at hypersonic speed through their enemy’s torso.

  9. I know its pointless and its that small part of me that’s a ninja fanboy…but I would love to see Superman use a sword…just once.

  10. That is a really awesome cover.  I’m a big fan of Smallville and been thinking about reading this series.

  11. @robby – Blasphemy! 😛

Really looking forward to where this series is heading. It has all the makings of a classic.

PS – Kryptoninans need spears to kill human police.

  12. Seeing that cover just makes me pissed Frank isn’t drawing this book. Liked the first issue, but not feeling the art.

  13. Between this, Supergirl, GLC, GL and booster gold i am buying way more DC than i did two years ago

  14. Even in technologically advanced civilizations and fantasy worlds imbued with superpowers, warriors cannot resist impaling the decapitated remains of their enemy for display on the end of a spear. :-)<———-

  15. This last year or so has been the best Superman Stories I have read in a long time.  I cant wait to see what the next part of this overall story brings.

  16. It took me a couple of minutes to see the "spears" that were commented on earlier.  Everytime I looked in the sky all I saw was what I thought were helicopters.  It’s funny how the mind plays tricks on what you expect to see, even after it’s pointed out to you.

  17. I’m surprised by how excited for this comic.

  18. Why is Gary Frank not doing the interiors on this series?  Eh, nonetheless these are still the best Superman stories we’ve seen in years.

  19. @TrueBeliever: Because he’s drawing the interiors for the 12 issue Superman origin book with Geoff Johns.

  20. superman needs a haircut. he’s looking a bit scruffy

  21. I went back and got the first issue of this, I’m glad I did.  Also I’m happy to hear that origin book is 12 issues.

  22. Is the front of the book a misprint? It says 2 of 15.

Great issue and I cannot wait for Hal to show up asking "Hey man, are we cool?"

  23. I wonder when this continuity takes place with Hal coming? Since Hal is now a Blue/Green Lantern…

  24. @supertrackmonkey: Can’t really worry about it. It’ll never match up.

  25. Jolly good issue.  I’m warming up to Pete Woods’ art more and more.

  26. I keep hearing Superman: Secret Origins is 12 issues, but I thought it was originally billed as four with the four joining Gary Frank covers? That’s a large increase if true. And now three extra issues of …New Krypton. This is far more Superman then I signed on for.

Good issue, not outsranding, but a solid "next installment." Though… The "ranching" scene lasted a little longer than I would like.

I love Pete Woods Supergirl, Zod and Kal-El. HIs Alura seemed pretty bland, though she only appeared in longshots. Also, did Alura seem a bit off character here? Far nicer than last issue.

  27. @ Conor and Prax  Actually, it’s a six issue series.  Here’s a link to the covers on newsarama: http://www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album.php?aid=24424.  I know I’ve seen them in color somewhere, but either way, they look friggin’ sweet.

  28. Here’s the link.

  29. Oh how I wish we had an edit button 😛

  30. I am really enjoying this series so far!!

Looking at the flag in the cover, I seem to recall this being from the Silver Age. The Krypton in the centre of the flag depicts Krypton as it was in the Silver Age, which was very similar to Earth’s from what I recall. In current continuity, what’s was the landscape of Krypton like? Sunstone like in the Superman films, or back to the Silver Age style?

  31. @cheezdog It’s funny you mention throw backs to the Silver Age. I was reading "Showcase Presents: Legion of Super-Heroes" and it features a story where the Legion randomly show Superboy the Phantom Zone imager and ask him who certain people are that appear in it. He first points out Jax-Ur and then they see General Zod who is sporting a military uniform that looks similar to one he wears in this book, including his beret.

  32. Supes, you lousy Carpetbagger. I like where this is going.

  33. Some of you are disappointed that Gary Frank is not on interiors on this book, but I have to say, Pete Woods drew the CRAP out of this book. I’m not in love with the story, but this is maybe the strongest I’ve ever seen Woods, and that’s saying something.

  34. I’m still finding it hard to accept Superman would abandon Earth … but anyways, hopefully next issue has a bit more goin’ on than Superman has a few conversations & then rounds up some telepathic alien cows.

  35. i love this book. i like Pete Woods but i also love the Gary Frank covers!!
