Comic Books

A can of matter the size of a football, mined from a broken universe, would be enough to turn the Earth into a sun.

There are people, hidden from the view of the world, who would do that either to hold the planet to ransom — or just to die knowing they took everyone else with them.

And right now there are just three people — Steve Rogers, The Black Widow and Shang-Chi — between us and total annihilation, trapped on a space station in the No-Zone…

  1. Aja?! PULL! PUULLLLL!

  2. Good lord what a horrible cover by Cassaday. Is that suppose to be Elektra or Shang-Chi? Cause if it’s Elektra she looks like a man.

Aside from that, I have been loving this series once Ellis got on board. I really wished he is going to have a longer run then 6 issues.

  3. I agree that Ellis has really made this book good again. It went from nowhere on my radar to immediate buy with his first issue. While I will be sad to see him go, I’m very much looking forward to Remender and Hardman as teh new creative team

  4. @TNC: Is Elektra even supposed to be in this book? It looks like Shang-Chi to me. Not a good rendition of him, though.

  5. I love the rotating artist aspect of this book. Aja is a perfect fit, and I wouldn’t have predicted it but McKelvie’s style fit that first script to a T. Who are your picks for the next three issues, if you were editing this book instead of whoever, and you didn’t have to worry about exclusives?

    #19 – Sean Murphy
#20 – David Lapham (sort of an odd choice but with the right script I bet it would be awesome)
    #21 – Darwyn Cooke

  6. Aja?! YESSSS!!! Still reeling from “Debt of Death.”

That cover is an embarrassment, though. Total trash.

  7. a CAN of matter? I love crazy Ellis concepts! add in Aja goodness, this issue is going to be great!

  8. I’m pretty sure that’s Shang. I’m baffled by the anatomy though.

Aja’s the king of kung fu, though.

  9. Game day decision. I didn’t like the last two issues.

  10. Beautiful. The art and layouts in this were incredible.

  11. Good god this was incredible. Absolutely incredible!

The ideas by Ellis, the kick ass fighting, the GORGEOUS artwork by David Aja! Man this was just….I need to read more of this, excuse me!

  12. How did Brubaker screw up this simple and great concept so badly? Also can every issue end with a character saying “It’s a secret.” with a smile and a wink? That would be pretty amazing.

  13. This is now one of my favorite series. Incredible art and distinctly Warren Ellis style writing in one-shot form. Perfect for Ellis!
