I really think this is the best 3.99 you can spend this week. (X-Men fans not withstanding, I suppose.) This is the best Secret Avengers issue by far, and with Aja drawing, I’d buy one of these Ellis one-offs every week. Really.
The layouts are crazy and creative and beautiful, the action is great, and these issues have been a lesson in concise storytelling. There’s a sci-fi MacGuffin, Steve pics a team and some tech, and they’re off and running – in this instance with very clever non-linear storytelling.
I love it.
