Someone is targeting the old members of the defunct Justice League International. Now, surviving members Booster Gold, Captain Atom, Fire and Ice have to figure out what unseen mastermind is threatening to destroy the entire Super Hero community! There are no gray areas here – it’s black and white and red with blood all over for this lost generation of Super Heroes as original JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL writer Keith Giffen is joined by superstar scribe Judd Winick (BATMAN, GREEN ARROW) for a new era in excitement!

  1. I’m actually really looking forward to this. I really like Winick’s super hero work and I haven’t seen it in awhile.

  2. yeah me too. I’m mostly getting this for Booster and ICe, two of my favorite DC characters

  3. Is that Booster Gold or Michael Keaton playing Booster Gold?

  4. That’s Batman playing Booster Gold.

  5. Apparently Jaime shows up in #3 or #4

So sure, why not, Ill give this a go

  6. I’ll admit, I really want to like this. I hope it’s good. I loved the old JLI stuff in its day, but the whole "I can’t believe it’s not…" reunion stuff didn’t really go so well. I like the characters, but they’re gonna have to show me they can still do something that doesn’t feel too rehashed, artificial or forced.

  7. Ehhh, why not.

  8. I’m game.

I thought Maxwell Lord’s villian turn didn’t play out for too long before he was killed, so its cool so see him back and have this aspect of him explored. I like what I read of JLI, so we’ll see how this goes.

  9. I’m interested in this … but how many issues are we talkin’ here?

I don’t really wanna invest in this story (time or money-wise) if it’s going to be drawn out 30 issues longer than it needs.

52 must have been a fluke, because the other weekly or bi-weekly MASSIVE stories, die in quality very very fast.

  10. @wadewilson You have to invest in this Kieth Griffen is the fucken man. He’s the main readon why 52 and countdown weas on time. any person that can make me like magog, blue Beatle, and Annihilation deserves my money

  11. @Wade Wilson

26 issues–same amount as Brightest Day.

  12. Classic example of the statement "Don’t judge a book by it’s cover". That cover is atrocious.

  13. I’m not a huge fan of Winick or recent Giffen, but this was pretty damn good.

  14. This was good, but a little slow going. I’m going to give it at least two more issues before making a commitment to it, but I think i’m in for the long haul. 4/5 (A little bit of a generous 4.)

  15. I’m liking where this is going…out of all the Infinite Crisis tie-ins, the Maxwell Lord/Checkmate story was my favorite. Glad to see it keep going in this story with characters from JLI and Checkmate that I like. Not sure what’s going to happen next, but I’m sure it’ll be a fun ride.

  16. The ending … did it remind anyone of Spider-man one more day?

  17. @AmirCat More like Flash: Ignition.

  18. I loved JLi but I don’t think old fans are going to like this because it gets pretty serious from the old Giffen days. With that said, I love what they are doing with Max. He should be top notch A-level baddie. Nice.

  19. This was absolutely delightful.

  20. They gave away the story on the backpages this week.  I wish I had read this book first so I didn’t already know what was going to happen.  🙁

  21. This and Booster Gold this week were my first exposure to Booster Gold ever.  I must say, I think I’m kind of in love with Skeets.  Too bad Booster Gold was awful and I’m only going to get him through this book now…

Really surprised at how good this was.  Other than the major-league cameo characters, I have zero history with any of the main characters.  Can’t wait to see where this goes.

  22. @Slockhart – for some prime Booster Gold, check out the 52 Pick Up trade, written by Geoff Johns and Jeff Katz.  You will not be sorry.  Especially with the "Killing Joke" issue.

  23. Great issue.  Definitely will need to pick up issue 2.

  24. This was good, a lot of set-up, but we finally know what Max was doing in that Brightest Day segment. The setup is great – only these 4 know the truth. How awesome! Giffen and Winnick don’t generally disappoint. I’ll be around for #2.
