  1. I really love Shazam. Looking forward to seeing how this ends and what he’s like with the other DC folks.

  2. I’m thinking of dropping it after this issue, because I don’t want to read a story that leads into 3.99 20 page books.

But this should be damn good – I’ve loved Gary Frank since his work on Hulk, and Shazam is bad ass.

  3. This is great! I’ve been buying this pretty much for the Shazam back-up and finally decided last month that I was adding this to the culling floor even though I’d miss out on the end of this story. This will allow me to get the whole thing while still cutting the book, albeit a month later than I planned, and I am excited about that!

  4. Almost time for Trinity War!!

  5. Are any of you going to have to pick up more books because of the trinity war? For me I haven’t been reading justice league dark at all so I’m tempted to try and skip buying it, then again if it’s only 6 parts an extra 2.99 a month for 2 months isn’t going to kill me.

    • Same here. JLD is the only one I wasn’t getting and it won’t burst my budget to get one more comic for a couple months.

    • Yeah, I hate these crossovers, I just dropped uncanny x-men so I’m going to have the same problem with the x-men crossover that’s happening soon. Marvel are a little better because of the re-cap page, I know it’s sales and everything but its pretty annoying.

    • But they are boosting the price of JL Dark up to 3.99 the next two months, and JLA seems to be keeping it’s 3.99 price with less pages. An extra dollar won’t kill me, but it also won’t make me want to buy these books.

    • I’m planning on picking up both JLD and JLA just because of Trinity War, but I didn’t know JLD was getting a price bump. I know its not much more money but its lame of DC to jack up the price right when a crossover starts.

    • Hey if you feel forced to pick up an extra book you could do worse than JLD. I love it personally!

    • Totally agree! JLD goes to the top of my reading pile every time. Very fun book.

  6. I hope this means Shazam is joining one of the JLs!

  7. Probably going to drop this because I do not care for Trinity War. But a full length finale for Captain Marvel? Good way to end the run for me.

  8. Agree with what people are saying here that the Shazam backup has been better than the JL story. I just can’t bring myself to stop reading this series.
It seems like one of those books that coasts but when there’s a large event, e.g. Throne of Atlantis, this book really kills it.
Think i’ll read this and JLA for the trinity war, but I won’t be following the whole arc.

  9. So many fun fist pumping moments here. Great issue.

  10. Gah! When is the Captain Marvel ongoing happening!? I must have more of this!

Even if it’s a bi-monthly schedule I’d wait because Gary Frank KILLED it with this issue. Some wonderful full pages of Marvel and Black Adam punching it out. I also like how Johns puts a modern twist on the Marvel Family (Mary Marvel including) and Talky Tawny. Seriously this was nice to have a full issue finale cause this was definitely one of the strongest issues for DC this year. If only The Wake didn’t come out this week it would easily be POTW.

    5/5

    • Yeah, this was great, and I’m wondering where we will see the whole Shazam family next. Because we need more!

  11. I grinned like an idiot when the Shazam family got their powers. This Shazam story was just plain fun from beginning to end and Gary Frank’s art solidifies it as one of the best DC52 books for me. Loved it.

  12. This was one of the most fun comics I’ve ever read! I loved the artwork, especially the demonic beast. All this time people have raved about the backup story and then SHAZAM it explodes into the main attraction. I didn’t even miss the regular Justice League. This should definitely have its own series.

  13. Not thrilled with this take on Captain Marvel, but this was one of the stronger issues of this new Justice League series. Basically it was Geoff John’s treatment for a “Shazam” movie. I have to admit to geeking out over the last page though… and I didn’t even have to sit through the credits!

  14. Good old fashioned fun comics. Just the way Captain Marvel should be.

  15. This needs to be a movie.

  16. This was the most fun I’ve had reading a comic in awhile. Any book in which Tawky Tawny shows up is automatically my favorite. I’m exceptionally pleased with how this book turned out and echo thoughts that this could easily be adapted for a live action film. Two things: I loved what they did to Dr. Sivana, lining him up physically with the Pre-52 version and his meeting with You-Know-Who. Also, I know that Mr. Bryer was possessed by the Seven Deadly Enemies, but was what he became supposed to be the New 52 version of SABBAC?

    Great book, need more!

  17. AWESOME issue. I really hope we see Shazam in his own title pretty soon. I would love to see what happens to him and his ‘family’ next!
