Last year, one of the pleasant surprises to read was the Sword of Sorcery debut, which hit struck a chord with many readers with its similarities to some of the best 80s cartoons. Gary Frank did so here as well, specifically hitting a lot of familiar beats you’d find in Masters of the Universe. Skeptical? Check out Tawky Tawny and tell me that wasn’t Battle Cat! I found this a lot of fun to read and right now I’m finding it near impossible to read Cap’s dialog without hearing He-Man’s voice, or She-Ra from Mary.

I’d also really enjoy seeing a story where Amethyst and Captain Marvel team up, perhaps Amethyst can teach him how to use his magic properly. It would be even more fun to see a romance blossom between these two, or perhaps Amethyst crushing on the older Captain Marvel, while Billy is crushing on the older Amethyst.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
