  1. This is last arc before I drop this book, but I may come back when the Guardians finally decide to begin thier plan.

  2. The main reason I havent dropped this yet is the fact that its Geoff Johns and its Green Lantern. Thats his wheel house but maybe its time to ride of into the sunset on this book.

  3. I like the foreshadowing with the Guardians and Sinestro being featured.

I don’t like the re-appearance of the colored lanterns.

I’m going to trust Mr. Johns is going somewhere important with this plot thread.

  4. love every issue of this.
will buy until there is no more green ink in the world…or at least until johns/mahnke call it quits.

  5. Boo-urns

  6. Im finding it tough. I’m sad to say It has to improve otherwise I’m gone.

  7. Same here, I was going to drop it after the first arc, but I was too curious about the new arc to drop it. This better be good

  8. I am in real hope that this gets better, as I am on the fence with it right now.

I do have one question, though. In the Justice League title, he (Hal) obviously has his ring & status, so does all this take place BEFORE the formation of the JL (which would be a give away to the future of the title), or in an upcoming time of the JL (which would be some kind of give away for that title)?

And how would this effect the other 2 Earth GLs (John & Guy)?

    • Really to me all these D.C books happen in different timelines, it’s almost like everyone is living in their own bubble.

    • This arc takes place after the “War of the Green Lanterns,” so this takes place in the “current time.”

    • That’s what I’m saying. If all the titles are in “current time”, then how can GL have neither status nor ring in one title, but have them in the other? I think “their own bubble” theory seems to be more accurate. At least as far as GL & JL go, anyway.

    • I’m pretty sure the Green Lantern book stayed with the old continuity. I don’t read Justice League, but I assume that version of GL is more rebooted.

    • you have to keep a fairly loose time line in comics if you’re going to use the same character in 2 or more books.
there’s only been one JL comic that is “current time”. and even though we are 8 months into this title, only a couple of weeks have passed for hal.
in my mind, current time just means present day. it could be actually TODAY or it could be a couple of months ago. how else could you have a GL and JL title side by side? how can hal be fighting with the JL and sinestro at the same time? how can spider-man be in 10 different titles monthly? these stories don’t all happen on the same day even if they may come out on the same day. you have to put at least a couple of weeks between them in your mind sometimes.
suspension of disbelief. hal’s in the JL, but he’s not with them everyday even though he might be in every issue.
dc has said that all of the initial arcs of the new 52 would be a story for the main character within their own “bubble” if you will and after that, the characters would start mingling with one another in the dc world.

    • I understand what you’re saying, Sitara, and I can follow that line of thought most of the time. However, what I was trying to get at was this; in one of those titles, something must happen to make it jibe with the other. At some point in time, Hal will (if the GL timeline is more recent than the JL timeline) get his status & ring back, or else he couldn’t be in the JL in the first place. Or, if the JL timeline is the more recent one, he will loose his status & ring, which would force him out of the JL (at least until he can regain both).
So, upcoming in one of the titles, will be a turning point in Hal’s life (again). It will be interesting to see where things go from here in both titles.

    • @sleeplessfatherof2
awesome avatar. i read your bio and it’s awesome that comics are helping your son.
i have a son who is two and a half, so we’ve not made the leap from dr. seuss to superman just yet, but i’m excited as hell for when comics become another bonding tool. he loves the justice league cartoons and toys already, fucking loves them, so we’re on the right track.
one of the best moments of my parenthood is he pointed at the screen and yelled “BATMAN!”
      heartwarming.

    • @sitara
I found the pick for my avatar on a website that posts humorous things people upload (not sure if I can post it here or not). Some really cool & funny stuff there!
Yeah, my son is dyslexic (and I am a poor speller! lol), so he usually doesn’t like to read. When DC launched The New 52, I thought it was the perfect time to get him started on comics, since we could start from the ground floor.
We like watching things like Young Justice, Bat-Man Betond, and other such programs. I have also taken him to see most of the super hero movies from both Marvel & DC, as well as others like Hellboy. It’s a great bonding experience, especially since he usually prefers to be alone (as do most with high function autism).
You & your son are, as you say, on th right track already; especially since you & he already enjoy the cartoons together (the “BATMAN” yell is fucking rad!). Aside from comics, when he’s old enough, you 2 will really enjoy the old cartoon, “The Tick”, as it really spoofs all things comics.
By the way, you have a pretty cool avatar as well.

  9. I look forward to this title every month and Hal is and always will be the greatest GL ever!!

    K

  10. I’m loving this book and with the exception of issue 6, the art has be spectacular. Manke is a beast.

  11. Gotta be honest, at this point I’m reading Green Lantern exclusively for Doug Mahnke’s art.

    • Right there with you. As far as the writing goes, I think this title has just gone downhill since the relaunch. The initial arc with Sinestro was a nice change from the “power ring of the month” mentality Johns keeps seeming to default to. I’m tired of light wars, I want some space adventure.

  12. I am loving this arc, especially the horror take on it. I had been very skeptical about this title since the relaunch, but Johns is doing a great job with this storyline. Mahnke is also knocking it out of the park with his pencils. I can’t wait to find out what Abin Sur’s role in this hot mess was.

  13. Was debating dropping this title dropping it after issue 6. This issue has made me want to keep it. For the first time since issue 1 I felt like I was reading an issue of John’s pre-Blackest Night GL.

  14. This was a really good issue. It’s been so much fun to watch Manhke progress over the years. He’s killing it on this title. Killing. It. I’m interested to finally flesh out all this Abin Sur nonsense. And the last panel, while it was the definition of predictable, was pretty cool. Can’t wait til Hal makes a crack about Sinestro being back in his old colors.

  15. Giving this a 4.5, the artwork was very good and the detail was enough to pull me in with the story line as well. I really did not think I could handle any more story arcs involving other lantern corps. however; this arc has really pulled me in. Blackhand and Abin Sur are all part of this???? I remember why Blackhand is here and now I am racking my brain trying to figure out what Abin Sur caould possibly have to do with these physcos!! That one Indigo was a huge MF’er, I though for sure he was going to break Sinestro in half at one point. I will give Sinestro one thing, he can take a hell of a beating as well as give it and still keep on ticking. Great work to John’s and the team on this issue and keeping Hal at the top!!

    K

  16. Was tht Abin Sur alive on the last page? If it wasn’t then there seemed to be two Sinestros…

  17. Oooh man I totally blew that page then. Thanks Hisenberg! Ha.

  18. Nok nok…

  19. I did end up enjoying this. Still hesitant though
