April 12, 2012 11:45 am Right there with you. As far as the writing goes, I think this title has just gone downhill since the relaunch. The initial arc with Sinestro was a nice change from the "power ring of the month" mentality Johns keeps seeming to default to. I'm tired of light wars, I want some space adventure.
April 12, 2012 11:41 am I didn't catch this review when you first posted it, but it's well done. I really loved this comic, more than likely my favorite in the relaunch. I knew this issue was going to be bittersweet, but seeing so many threads laid out, even in the final issue, was just painful. O.M.A.C. was a great comic with a lot more greatness still in it; I really hope the ideas Keith and Dan plotted here aren't horribly mishandled in another comic (like JLI or something). It drives me crazy to hear people call this book simple "Dumb Fun" when it's so masterfully crafted. It reads fast, fun, and energetic, but there was a lot of complexity to what was being done in this comic. Godspeed, O.M.A.C.
April 12, 2012 11:31 am Agreed, zak7khan. It's not conventional for writers to expose a more vulnerable side of Bruce and it not be more of the rote my-parents-are-dead/I'm-unable-to-love business. It's good to see Batman behaving more like a parent, and it makes the Bruce/Alfred dynamic that much better.
January 26, 2012 12:08 pm It's a shame that the new Hawkman series had such a rocky start--that would have been a good place to give him a tangible, clear backstory.
January 26, 2012 12:04 pm Best run on Catwoman, period. Our local store didn't get this TP.
January 26, 2012 11:48 am I know, right? I was pretty relieved when they made that announcement.
