  1. So WHEN is the conclusion to this “event”? I’m seriously getting event fatigue on this.

    • No doubt. I think Avengers vs X men seemed to go by quicker than this. On a positive note, I am excited to see more of the “throne of Atlantis”. First 2 issues were solid last month.

    • Feeling the same. I want to see the book get back to basics for a while.

  2. A large, seemingly never ending event/large story arc.Feels like a Geoff Johns story.

  3. I use to love Green Lantern.

    • Agreed. Is Johns mailing it in or what? I have been reading this out of loyalty to GL but I am having a hard time getting into the Lantern books.

    • I was just thinking the same thing. This used to be a top selling book and leader in pulls on iFanboy.

The initial re-boot arc was really solid, but has drifted the last 6 issues or so.

The stories aren’t bad, but the #’s dictate a fresh approach/writer.

  4. I still love GL.

    • Good for me! 😀

    • I do too!

    • Yeah me too. I think people are getting too caught up in the Rise of the Third Army banner on these issues. The “event” is mostly just background to a very compellling origin story. I honestly think that the idea of this as an event makes people angry. If this was the same exact story but just not marketed under the event banner, people would react more positively. Maybe I’m wrong, who knows?

    • @Levihunt
      Good point.
This isn’t an event. Not really. It’s a story arc. Everything Johns does just feels epic.
If people have epic fatigue, they should check out Doonesbury.

  5. whatever…. This book is fantastic. Simon Baz is totally badass. Can’t wait for Hal and Sinestro to jump back into the story. I love that the Guardians are going to be gone soon. Those blue head douche bags need to go.

  6. Loving Baz so far. He’s a cool Lantern (even if he is the fifth human Lantern that happens – totally by accident/coincidence – to be American). They were obviously setting up the JLA in the last issue and signaling Baz’s possible exit from this title (and the return of Hal & Sinestro).

  7. Another solid issue by Johns and Mahnke. I like Simon Baz and I’m enjoying the storyline of the Lanterns vs. the Guardians. I’m not sure how the ring was able to do what it did with Nazir and I’m also wondering if there is a precedent for B’dg being able to talk to squirrels. Oh well this is one of the better DC books and I eagerly await the next installment.

  8. Yes the Rise of the 3rd Army doesn’t seem to have much progress, but the introduction of Baz has been done well and I already feel a good connection with him. This has become one of my more anticipated books each month.

  9. I’m really liking the Simon Baz and Hal and Sinestro trapped story. The rest is just a distraction in my opinion.

  10. This is the only GL book I am reading and it is because of Johns, but mainly Doug Mahnke’s art. The art is just stellar and the art is almost always the thing that gets me in to a book and keeps me in. I was not sure about the new GL, Simon Baz, when I heard about it, but I am starting to enjoy him. What he does that no other GL has done was just awesome. My pick of the week this week.

  11. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this series. But why is it called Rise of the Third Army when the third army has taken the C-plot for every issue so far? The main plot has been Baz and the B plot has been Hal and Sinestro trapped. I can see how someone new to the series would be confused and put off by this.

  12. Issue #16 of Green Lantern makes great strides to forward Simon’s story. Nice to see he is not just another Green Lantern, but that there is something extra-special about him. B’dg is awesome (I know, right?) and look who’s Hal and Sinestro’s host!

  13. Damn you, Geoff Johns, you won me over with the chipmunk. And the touching scene towards the end. And the cool plot with Hal and Sinestro. And this new Green Lantern is a good character.

This whole Rise of the Third Army crossover has barely existed in this series. But I don’t mind because I’ve been reading only Green Lantern and I can follow *this* book just fine. Way to do a crossover.
