  1. All the praise and the recent Word Balloon have me curious about this title. I’ll give it an issue or two.

  2. I feel like this is going to be my Pick of the Week.  Agents of Atlas is my favorite super hero team, and Jeff Parker and Gabe Hardman are two of my absolute favorite creators….

    and….

    3-D MAN!!!!

    jeff.

  3. I want to get this book. I love Agents of Atlas, but my students have no interest in it.

So the hardcover might be a better idea.

  4. Will Atlas finally be able to break into the mainstream? So far this has been a classic: critics love it, readers don’t know it exists item. They have attached them to the Avengers, the X-men, Hercules, but has it gotten any traction? Do they keep publishing it because they believe in it or because Jeff Parker has been such a reliable help us put out every random issue Marvel produces kind of guy. Either way, you got to figure this is its last chance to catch on.

  5. One reason I want to support it in issue cuz I know issue sales often determine whether a comic will be produced . . . I have to look at my pull list and see if I put it on there. I’m cutting lots of books, so there may be space.

  6. I really liked the series last and was a little disappointed when it ended. I am looking forward to this but I wonder if it is worth it? There was no great outcry when the series was cancelled; unlike, say, CB and MI13 which seemed to be almost universally lamented. At least on this site.

  7. 3-D man?

Not really sure about that guy but I liked the other Atlas stuff I read, so I’ll give this a shot.

  8. Just called my shop to make sure they had a copy waiting for me.

  9. I was somewhat disappointed by this book, especially because the actual Agents of Atlas seemed to play way too small of a role in this issue.  I haven’t read an Atlas book since the first trade, but instead of catching up with those characters I’m reading about "3D Man"?  I know so many people swear by this book, but I think it might not be for me.

  10. @ mrlogical

It strikes you as odd as a relaunch of the title would spend time introducing the new addition to the team? Seems perfectly obvious to me, frankly…

  11. @Borin1142-It’s odd when it spends absolutely no time introducing people to the rest of the team. You get no feel for the type of team this is, how they interact, the different personalities, etc. All you get is an introduction to a person that isn’t even officially on the team yet.

  12. I wasn’t expecting this. 3D Man…Eh.

  13. Though I admit I really liked the art.

  14. @Borin1142 I’d echo drakedangerz response, but also, I wasn’t aware that 3D Man was supposed to be a new addition to the team.  I don’t know if I missed something in the issue or if you’re just speaking from knowledge of solicits or interviews or whatever; in any case, while 3D Man’s eventual introduction to the team may end up being a good lens through which readers can get acquainted with Agents of Atlas, I didn’t feel it had that effect in this issue.

  15. I will echo other people’s thoughts that this was a strange #1 for all the reasons previously stated.

  16. I liked it, but I don’t know if I would buy it every month.  If someone handed me a trade, I’d read it.  I might give it one more month.  4/5

  17. Give it another month for sure. I am an Atlas loyalist. I’ve bought everything they have appeared in because I like Jeff Parker as a writer and dig on the team.

3D Man was an original member of the team in some old Avengers comic.

I liked how they brought in all the Secret Invasion threads.

    M11 is the shit.

  18. Can someone tell me why everyone is not reading this title. C’mon people, get on the bus. Next stop………..Awesome town!!!!!!

  19. I think there is some misunderstanding regarding this title. Parker isn’t being retro-kitschy, he is updating characters by keeping the cool parts and making them a little more self aware. In fact, these heroes almost seem MORE realistic than the average Marvel hero. Revel in the wierdness. These have been someof the most enjoyable Marvel stories of the last couple years and everyone should give this title a try.
