  1. Okay, so, I haven’t been reading Animal for a while, but I did really like the series when it started. I am going to be picking up this book to see “how it all began” for Buddy. It is unlikely that it will get me to jump back on the book.

  2. Could be my last issue, just getting a little bored of the slow & slightly repetitiveness of it all!

  3. Steve Pugh is rubbish and this book has really gone downhill.

    • I disagree on the Steve Pugh comment, when he & Jamie Delano were on the 1st series they were a great partnership.

I think the problems are just the in the very long-winded story that has taken far too long!

    • Sorry but this issue was terrible. After rotworld ends I think I’m off this book, it’s sad because I loved the first 6 issues.

    • Fair enough! I just felt this issue didn’t really grip me in anyway whatsoever, so I’ll give ‘Rotworld’ part 1 a chance & if no good it’s bye-bye for me & I’ll spend my money elsewhere!

    • Agreed, might even drop it now and switch it for earth two or a marvel now title.

  4. This series has been dragging it’s feet for the last 5 issues and yet im not feeling the need to drop it.

  5. I love all of the ideas in this book. Compared to the other stories I’ve read in the new 52, this one seems to be taking the longest. You had me at “little wing”.

  6. I’m getting sick of the Steve Pugh art. They should put Alberto Ponticelli on this book. He was a great fill in.

  7. This book started out great but has been on a slow but steady decline for me. I hope that rotworld delivers on the goods, since it’s been building for a year now and I’ll be pretty disappointed if it…disappoints.

  8. Please please please let the “rotworld” pay off. I am beginning to realize that I maybe I don’t like Lemire’s writing after all. The last 5 issues have been a real let down, but not so bad that I’m dropping it (for now).

  9. Weird…that’s not Animal Man #1 he is breaking out of.

Anyone know what that background picture is?

  10. I don’t know… I keep reading all these comments about how it is taking to long and people are getting board of it… and I am sitting here thinking how much I am loving that they took their time with this story and didn’t rush it. I think it is fantastic, still… It is still one of my favorites of the New 52… I look forward every week and I cannot remember being disappointed… Well, that is, outside of issue #6, thought that was disappointing. But beyond that… I guess I don’t see how its been boring.

    • Welcome to comics: the most hypocritical fanbase of all!
Condensed stories: “This feels rushed and hectic. Its like the writer was forced to fit a 10 issue run into 6… Damn editors for chaining the creative process!!!”
Uncondensed stories: “Nothing is happening here, this is so boring! They could have fit this whole arc into 2 issues. Damn editors trying to wring out pockets dry!”
      You can never win.

    • I haven’t really seen a lot of people complaining about condensed storyline telling the last 5, 10 years. Back in the day, books packed in more story.

I love this book and am okay with it being slow. I don’t love Swamp Thing, so I am less okay with it being slow.

    • @ Kamilo:

I don’t know, I pulled 18 books this month, and the only two that feel like they are dragging this much are this and Swamp Thing. A lot of people say they are going to stick around through Rotworld, but I realized this Rot storyline is what I’m most tired of. I think it might be time to just drop both of them.

    • Edit: 18 books this week, not month.

    • @Kamilo – comics random does have a bad rep, lacking good manners above all else, no doubt. I think you’re wrong to dismiss the growing criticism to both Animal Man & coincidentally Swamp Thing. It’s evident the story’s been in a holding pattern & the story has suffered because of it. I like long arcs. I dislike bad ones. Compare the first six issues to the second; there’s no comparison in terms of quality.
I couldn’t blame anyone for dropping either title, right now.

  11. I really, really liked this!

  12. My POTW once again. I think maybe Earth 2 got it once but that may of been a dream.

  13. hhhhhmmmm… i don’t want to sound like a newb, but what i’ve been getting out of both animal and swamp, is a clear intention of building epicness and hopelessness. I agree that it has taken a while to get to this point, but when looking back at both titles, a lot has happened, and the scale has been huge, i love that about it. i think the timing of #0 month kind of just irritated people regarding these 2 titles, a bit of unnecessary filler. Either way, im definitely going to re read both entire series once this even is over.

ps. even though its taken a while, at least these books are going somewhere, meanwhile, there are books like superman that feel as if nothing has happened over the entire year. i could have missed every book and just started this month and i wouldn’t have missed anything.
