September 10, 2012 7:18 am hhhhhmmmm... i don't want to sound like a newb, but what i've been getting out of both animal and swamp, is a clear intention of building epicness and hopelessness. I agree that it has taken a while to get to this point, but when looking back at both titles, a lot has happened, and the scale has been huge, i love that about it. i think the timing of #0 month kind of just irritated people regarding these 2 titles, a bit of unnecessary filler. Either way, im definitely going to re read both entire series once this even is over. ps. even though its taken a while, at least these books are going somewhere, meanwhile, there are books like superman that feel as if nothing has happened over the entire year. i could have missed every book and just started this month and i wouldn't have missed anything.
August 24, 2012 12:06 am wow, thanks for expressing my exact sentiments! totally agree, i so badly want this book to be good it hurts. I mean really, compared to most comic/graphic novel aficionado, i'm an ignorant novice, yet even i can pick up on the short comings of basic story telling and lacklustre villains. The thing is with superman, he is only as good as his enemies and how hard they push him, so far i haven't seen a true test of his will, character or abilities. Look at batman with the Court of the owls, those guys took him to his limits! that's what i want to see from supes and how he would handle it.
August 19, 2012 6:51 am yeah, a minority of the greatest people ever! i really enjoyed this series, it had a lot of potential for tackling Atom's almost unstoppable rise to God of the DC universe, it gave it's readers a lot of credit throughout. Really going to miss this one.
August 2, 2012 6:27 am agree totally, this series has been one of the reasons why i have gotten back into comics after 10 years out. Creative and unapologetic in its approach to it's themes. I can't wait to see where the characters are taken, and if any turn out to contain any heroic attributes.
