Neal Adams Has The Defenders Covered

If you’ve been keeping up on your Marvel news, you know that they will be launching a new Defenders title this December. You know that Matt Fraction and Terry Dodson will be at the helm of that ship. What you don’t know, unless you’ve been hacking our in-boxes, is that legendary superstar artist Neal Adams will be giving the new book a proper sendoff with a dynamic variant cover. Take a gander below for a hint of what’s to come.

Defenders #1 hits the stands December 7th, which is coming way sooner than you think. November’s next week, unbelievably.

Comments

  1. The Defenders is my favorite Marvel team.

I really really really hope this is good.

  2. I’ll check this out, it should be interesting to see what Fraction does with them.

I got into a discussion with someone recently about whether or not the original Defenders was the most powerful team of all time. If I recall correctly the original incarnation was Dr. Strange, Silver Surfer, Namor, Hulk, and Ghost Rider (and I think Valkyrie joined pretty early on). That’s a pretty powerhouse team based just on superpower alone.

    • Master of the Mystic Arts, Cosmic power, Brute strength, an immortal Asgardian godess, Marvel’s First Mutant, and the power of vengenance(mephisto’s realm?). Yup, you might be right

    • I don’t think Ghost Rider was ever an “official” member of the team (although th Defenders didn’t have official members, but you know what I mean…..) Still, Dr. Strange, Namor, Silver Surfer an the Hulk are all characters who, at that time, could have taken on the Avengers by themselves. Together? They are untouchable.

  3. Matt Fraction and Terry Dodson no thank you but at least the covers will look good

  4. Guys, the best idea in my brain ever:

Chris Claremont and Neal Adams on X-Men Forever vol.3

    Make it so!

  5. Is it just me or does Hulks head look about 4x too small for his massive body?

  6. Neal Adams is a master. That cover is just crackling with energy. Plus, the Defenders is one of my favorite Marvel titles ever. Really hoping this is goo, as I will definitely be checking it out.

  7. Reading JL: Dark, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, I, Vampire, etc over at DC – I no longer understand why Marvel couldn’t run a solo Dr. Strange book if they put the right people on it. (Although giving it the push of a line wide reboot would certainly help make it go.)

  8. I love the Defenders but people can’t make a go of this book. it lasted what 6 issues in the 90’s? I hope it works….
