Marvel’s The Avengers Gets Five New Character Posters

I can count on one hand how many new character posters Marvel’s the Avengers got today. Luckily I never took a wood shop class. Technically, I did. It was called “Theatrical Production I” though. I think Gordon teaches something like that where he is. I’m okay with a jigsaw. Gordon’s probably better.

Alright, so. Character posters! Not just a poster devoted to each character. We’ve seen that before. This time it’s more like Team-Up posters. Mixing and matching various Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. staff, including Maria Hill. Somewhat silly that you can’t push them all together to form a giant picture of Phil Coulson though. Disney marketing, what are you doing!?

Here’s a look from Latino Review.

First up, Cap and Hawkeye!

Hulk and Hawkeye and a traffic light and a vehicle!

Iron Man and the Hulk!

Nick Fury and Maria Hill! Worth noting: Fury’s coat is clearly on fire.

Angst twins!

“Robert Downey Ruffalo
Captain American Buffalo.
Hammer time, Empire State.
Maria Hill and Scarlett Jo.
Arc reactor, ice cream
Loki tantrum, we can’t wait!

“We didn’t start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world’s been turning
We didn’t start the fire
No we didn’t light it
But we tried to fight it.”

–Bill Joel, Paul Montgomery

Something something May 4th!

Comments

  1. The Thor/ Widow one is my fav. might have to buy that

  2. As usual, Paul’s captions are better than the actual images.

“Hulk sad. Hulk’s back hurt from reorganizing his longboxes.”

And for fuck’s sake, Tony, put on your goddamn helmet.

    • I hope “for fuck’s sake, Tony, put on your goddamn helmet” is a line in the movie.

    • “Hulk and Hawkeye and a traffic light and a vehicle!”

If I need captions, I know who I’m calling.

    • @JDC hahah that actually made me laugh out loud. Well done sir.

    • I mean seriously, I get the whole “famous-face-has-to-be-seen” argument, but who doesn’t know that RDJ is Iron Man at this point? Hell, that’s probably half the reason Average Joe Moviegoer is interested in the first place. And if there’s one character who actually needs to keep his helmet/mask on, it’s Iron Man. That icing problem in the first movie would’ve been a whole different ballgame if he wasn’t sporting his helmet.

      “Icing problem?”

“Might wanna look into it.” CLUNK

      Gets me every time.

    • Awesome scene.

  3. Samuel L. Jackson’s coat is ALWAYS on fire, man.

  4. Son of a bitch! Is that the Canadian chick from “How I Met Your Mother” next to Nick Fury?!?!
    Seriously?

  5. All I can think is, someone should really give Hawkeye a helmet and a gun. I wonder if he’s going to have a magic quiver?

  6. *stands up from metal folding chair, surrounded by others sitting in church basement*

Hello. My name is CaseyJustice, and…

    *bows head*

    I like Hawkeye’s movie outfit.

    *viciously murdered*

  7. As if I wasn’t already soo excited for this movie, finding out a few weeks ago Cobie Smulders is in it makes it that much better!! Love the song and the captions lol
Joss is a genius, I can’t wait to see banter Especially between Tony and Cap.

    • @SpideyGirl310 – You are absolutly right the Cap and Tony banter will be fun, and I just want to see and hear Thor tell The Hulk he is an ugly beast and threaten to defeat him. You know The Hulk will piss off Thor at least three or four times in this movie.

      K

    • @FLASH 23: True that!!

    • @Flash923 I agree, the Thor/Hulk dynamic should be great as well. I had an Avengers; Earth’s mightiest heroes marathon the other day and their battles are pretty epic.

  8. I’m super-psyched for this movie, but these posters aren’t all that great, in my opinion. Most of them are kind of poorly put together and look like bad photoshop jobs.

  9. Speaking of terrible movie posters.

I really wish there was creativity in these. But damnit they use the same Hulk image and RDJ’s head doesn’t even seem to fit in his own poster. That’s madness.

  10. Spoiler alert….the traffic light is a skrull.

  11. I see the Chrysler Building and what can be construed as Avengers Tower.

I wonder. Will we ever see the 5th Avenue mansion?

  12. Don’t care what you guys say, I’m going to buy the Cap one.

  13. <3

  14. That “vehicle” in the background of the Hawkeye/Hulk poster is definitely the quinjet. Looks just like the Lego quinjet aerial battle set.

Poor marc ruffalo. he should have had a clause in his contract like RDJ so he could get his face on a poster, too.

    • I remember at some point that Marvel had a thing that whenever a product or image of Iron Man was out there they had to have his face exposed. I guess they were concerned that people would think he was actually a robot. I think that’s why there are so many toys that came out around the same time as a movie (even his HeroClix figure) featured him holding his helmet rather than wearing it.

    • Avatar photo Kelly (@annaluna) says:

my daughter and i had some serious conversations when the second movie came out about the difference between robots and guys wearing mech suits. 🙂

  16. Am I the only one who hears “Dream Weaver” whenever I see Maria Hill?

  17. Black Widow, Thor, Iron Man, Fury – those look good. The others – horrendous. Someone should have veto’d Cap’s outfit during pre-production. Not good.

  18. They’re ok. My problem is that they’re all obviously in the middle of the action, yet none of the characters are showing any emotion. They’re just blank, expressionless faces.
