Game Trailer: Everybody Wants the Batman Dead in ‘Arkham Origins’

As promised with last week’s teaser, the team behind Batman: Arkham Origins has unveiled the full cinematic trailer for this October’s followup to Arkham City.

We know many of you requested a wakeup call only upon the release of some actual gameplay footage, but this video offers just under five minutes of worthwhile Batman bravado.

Joystiq also confirms some of the voice talent making their way to Gotham. Roger Craig Smith (Ezio Auditore of Assassin’s Creed fame as well as a few incarnations of Captain America) plays Batman, while Troy Baker (Bioshock Infinite‘s Booker DeWitt) assumes the role of the Joker. Mark Hamill stepped down as the clown prince of crime with Arkham City. Longtime Batman voice artist Kevin Conroy also announced that he would contribute to the game, though his role is currently unknown.

Look for Batman: Arkham Origins on PC and consoles this October.

Comments

  1. This is a really cool short piece, but I wish it showed gameplay of some sort. All it really tells us about the game is the tone (surprise surprise! It’s a dark Batman-y tone.)

Still, it was fun to watch!

  2. Avatar photo ochsavidare (@ochsavidare) says:

Batman looks kind of old and grizzled for being young.

  3. Deathstroke being playable is a great, hopefully you will be able to use him in whole map

  4. Did anyone catch the Dark Knight Returns floor grab?

    • Yea, that was cool. I wonder if this is inspired by “Batman Begins” since it’s in a shipping yard? The first goon got knocked out in a similar way in the movie.

  5. I stand by my previous post, this would kill as a CGI YouTube series like “Nightwing”. I’m guessing this is early in Batman’s career and Blackmask and the mob have put out a bounty on Batman (pretty smart, instead of just hiring one guy to do the job). I’m also guessing this game will involve other members of the JL unless that “Queen Inc” crate was just an Easter egg. I’m curious to know if the gadget list will be drastically altered in this game since it is a prequel, so probably no romote batarangs , gun disablers , explosive gel, and probably a rudimentary detective mode (if at all).

  6. Loved the headbutt and close line. This scene was very well choreographed. Although I have never really been completely satisfied with Batman’s appearance in these games and have always thought him to be slightly too bulky. O well, it’s the most minor complaint in comparison to what has been, thus far, an excellent franchise.

  7. Pretty good trailer. Although not quite as compelling as the first Arkham City trailer with Hugo Strange. (Come to think of it that trailer was amazing) Again as long as this new team of developers stick to what worked for the previous games I can’t see why this game will be bad. Gonna have to get used to the new voice actors though…

  8. I don’t play many video games these days but will make time for this one. The 1st two were top notch and love all the bonus skins in Arkham City. They all produce excellent figures with original takes on these classic characters and I’m a sucker for seeing Batman or anyone really paired with characters out of the norm like Deathstroke, he’s not an everyday Batman foe. Black Mask putting out a hit on the new threat is a solid origin synopsis for this series to go off. (I agree he’s a lil’ too bulky as well but it works in motion & combat) the graphics in these games are excellent & cut scenes are beautiful.

  9. I am taking a “wait and see” approach to this game, but I have to admit, that trailer got me excited.
