Comments

  1. They pulled a Greg Land on me with Avenging Spider-man. Oh well. I may skip that arc.

    • Greg Land on Avenging is very disappointing. I loved the first issue, but now i have to skip however many issues that guy is working on.

    • You just now that Ron wrote that line with a fake enthusiasm in his voice, Did you enjoy the first issue of Avenging Spiderman?! Well Great!!! Greg Land is the new Artist on issue 4!!! haha.. horrible

    • Also skipping Avenging on any arcs that don’t have an acceptable artist. Luckily, the way the comic is, each arc will probably have nothing to do with the last one.

    • I won’t be skipping, but I’m not pleased with the decision to put Land on this book.

    • Yeah, that’s disappointing. A whole trade’s worth of Joe Madureira’s art would’ve been lovely. The first issue was stunning to look at.

    • ZOMG avenging spider-man will be an INSTANT drop for me when greg land comes on board! Seriously how do you go from Joe Madureira’s breathtaking art to……greg land. jesus christ I had high hopes for this series too. D-D-D-Dropped!

  2. So much polybagging…

  3. I was just about to say that I will be buying all of the non-Ultimates Spider-books listed when I saw your Greg Land comment, Hopefully it’s just a couple issues.

  4. Oh what the hell?! Greg Land on Avenging Spider-Man AND it’s a Hawkeye crossover?! I just can’t escape him!

My only is that it’s not a revolving art team, maybe a different artist per arc that’d be great actually (Except for Greg Land but ya know…)

  5. yeah i’ll probably wait out on those Greg Land issues. Never liked him and Hawkeye isn’t someone i want to see a team-up with. I’m not sure about that Venom event also, i really like Venom but i’m no fan of most of those except maybe Hulk. Spider-Man looks good but that John Tyler Christopher reminds me of that cover that Paulo Rivera did for OMIT.

  6. The .1 cover is pretty cool… except for the armpit webbing. It’s a costume detail I like, but it really doesn’t work if you’re merging the costume blue into a blue background.

  7. When will the “.1” madness stop!?

    • I don’t know, I kinda like the idea of putting events like the upcoming Venom event into their own pockets of storyline, so in that sense, the evolution of .1’s seems to be going nicely. Like the Red Hulk, sometimes things that start badly can turn out surprisingly well.

  8. Putting a fight scene on the cover of a book written by Brian Michael Bendis is false advertising.

  9. Love those Kaare covers, especially X-Men #8.

  10. Wait so does this mean that the first Arc to Avenging is only the first three issues??

Thats great because for some reason i thought it was more

  11. Cripes, 5 issues of Venom and 3 issues of Amazing Spider-Man! Marvel’s really starting to bend me over a barrel here. Are the Ultimate issues being polybagged because of download redemptions or what?

  12. I really like Greg Land’s art

    • You and maybe one other person…and that other person is probably greg land’s mom. J/K, To each their own but for me it’s some of the most off putting art i’ve ever seen. For example EVERY woman in his art from ANY book has the EXACT same porn face.

  13. That’s a lot of Spider-Books and I’m perfectly fine with it.

  14. Glad to see Ramos taking another break from Spider-Man after #679, that means I won’t have to buy ASM again until they put him back on it, helps to keep my spending down.

  15. I was thinking of picking up Venom, but screw that! I’ll wait till later!

  16. Looks like Scarlet Spider had my chili for dinner.

Greg Fucking Land. I was JUST telling my friend how good that book was too.

I’ll probably get the Venom stuff, and whatever ASM that Ramos didn’t do.

  17. I’m such a spider tool. I’m excited about all of these except for Mr. Land on Avenging. The preview pages have looked amazing for Scarlet Spider so I’m really interested to see how that book turns out, and I’m actually really looking forward to all that Venom. Lots of good on this page.

  18. Wait. Ghost Rider is a woman now? Did I miss something?

  19. That ASM #679 cover must be an homage to Lupin III.

  20. OMG is that the Ultimate version of Falcon?!?!?!! I am so stoked for this issue now!!!

  21. can Marvel do any more dumb shit to make the sale of comics worse? It almost seems as if they are sabotaging themselves. Cancel Punisher MAX sure… Put Greg Land on a great book and ruin it Great!!….. Fear Itself… awful!… and Spider Island… jeez!… and poly bag it all! what a waste. I currently have dumped all my Marvel titles except Ultimate Spiderman and the new uncanny x men. lets hope these guys can turn it around.

  22. John Tyler Christopher’s cover for that .1 issue is a great design….until you see those unfortunate armpit webbing,

Also, all of those Ultimate covers are terrible.

  23. I was wondering when Joe Mad would need a break. It sucks that they’re getting a different artist so soon. I didn’t hop on board because I don’t like the Red Hulk and wasn’t excited about the series’ initial storyline. But I’m always interested in seeing Joe Mad draw different characters. Hopefully he’s back on board for issue #7. It’d be cool to see him draw the FF, for example. But I’m not holding my breath.

  24. VENOM #13.1 – #13.4? Come on. Really?

  25. 3 amazing spiderman books in a month???????? thats fucking insane

    • Not really. The title shipped three times a month starting back in 2008 with Brand New Day. And then it’s been bi-monthly for the last year or so I believe. Marvel decided to do this rather than have 4 separate Spider-man Books (Spectacular, Web of, Friendly Neighborhood)

Nothing to get up in arms over.
