February 18, 2013 10:14 am I agree with all of the casting except for Nathan Fillion. He just doesn't seem quite right. I'd like to see someone like Zachary Levi from Chuck in that role.
December 10, 2012 12:55 pm As far as new comic reading rituals or preferences, I actually sort my books alphabetically. I feel like this gives every book a fair chance and doesn't force me to rank them. I think if I start classifying books as "least favorite" then I have to wonder why I'm buying them in the first place.
September 17, 2012 10:32 pm Soooo...anyone notice a significant decline in Matthew Southworth's art in the new issue of Stumptown? Flipping through the first hardcover, Southworth's style was rough, but had a Michael Gaydos feel to it. The new issue of Stumptown is just rough and awkward to look at. And as a detail-oriented crime/thriller writer, how did Rucka let the last panel of the last page slip by? The rendering of that revolver was totally amateur hour. Nitpicky, I know, but after the first series these two put out, I came to expect a lot from the second series. The story was still engaging, but the art was lacking.
September 17, 2012 12:39 pm Rocketeer was great but I have to mention Stumptown. Did anyone notice the sharp decline in the quality of Matthew Southworth's art? I don't remember his work looking that rough in the first series.
March 30, 2012 9:32 am I don't have a problem with it, but with the extra etching right in the middle I can't help but see the Nike Swoosh.
March 22, 2012 11:11 am Thanks for posting these where-to-start/must-read books. I don't collect any Top Cow books, but I've been thinking recently about trying some. Yesterday I found the Darkness listing on Wikipedia, thinking that might be a good place to get some background information. After about 5 minutes of reading I was completely lost, so this is a welcome article.
March 7, 2012 12:36 pm I hate to be negative, but event tie-ins are book-killers for me recently. That's why I dropped X-Factor during Secret Invasion and most everything else during Fear Itself. It bums me out because so far I'm loving Remender's Secret Avengers. I'm afraid AVX is going to drag it down and I'm going to drop it like I did during FI.
March 5, 2012 9:51 am Even though for most of the episode I felt like I was watching a high school debate club, I enjoyed watching the characters process their decision making and run through options and scenarios. I find myself torn over Carl's development this season. On one hand, yes, this is their harsh new reality and as a young boy he's quickly adapting to it as he is in his formative years. On the other hand, sometimes it feels forced and just used as a plot device. Either way, I think Chandler Riggs is giving a great performance considering the dark and thought-provoking material of the show. No matter what the reason for Jeffrey DeMunn's departure, I'm going to miss him on the show. And I'm going to miss the character of Dale. So often in TV and movies, we only get to see a small cross section of survivors that just happen to fall into the under 40 range (and of course they're usually all super model attractive). It was nice to have Dale around to represent an older demographic with maybe a little more experience and/or wisdom under his belt. RIP Dale, you'll be missed. Especially the first time the RV breaks down.
February 24, 2012 9:57 am Hey did anyone notice all the stuffed owls in the mansion at the end of All-Star Western? It was really creepy, every panel had these subtle but noticeable owls adorning the walls. I love how they're tying the Court of Owls in to books not necessarily tied in to the Bat-titles.
February 7, 2012 11:09 am I don't think I'm imagining that parts of his costume glowed when he shot his webs. That was weird. Other than that, I'm pretty excited for this new chapter in the film franchise.
