May 15, 2013 11:59 pm Just watched this one. It didn't disappoint. Already excited for next season. The execution of action in this show is way above anything I could expect.
March 30, 2013 10:43 am I thought this was the best episode since the mid-season finale. Felicity is really starting to grow on me, Thea wasn't such a brat and I actually felt bad for her, and Roy is going to be a great character (I just hope they pace his glaringly inevitable transformation well). The angle between Moira and Malcolm is finally getting interesting. Whereas I usually find the scenes from the Island a drag and unnecessary, I thought they were well done this time. They weren't too long, not a lot of "character surprises" (backstabbing, two-facing, double crossing) that are sometimes difficult to keep track of. I agree with the previous posts about the stunts, they were quite well done. Maybe I've just seen The Dark Knight 200 times too many but, perhaps just to me, there were some subtle similarities between this episode and that movie. Besides Chin Han acting in both there are vigilantes having to stop wannabees (specifically the line "What's the difference between you and me?"), the hero has to speed out in the middle of the day in plain clothes on a motorcycle ("It's the middle of the day! "), the way that the impostor broadcasted his victims reminded me of the way Joker did it.
January 24, 2013 1:21 pm This was the best episode in recent memory. The acting wasn't as soap opera-esque as it usually was, great story without being unbelievable, the dialogue seemed natural, and the guest stars (especially Ben Browder as Ted) were great. I do enjoy Diggle's character being developed and Thea is finally going somewhere. I never expected the twist at the end, I was totally sold otherwise. Good job.
January 22, 2013 12:39 pm My least favorite episode so far. It wasn't bad, just spectacularly mediocre. The conflict with Firefly near the end was anticlimactic and, while I've had issues with villains being turned over too quickly, Firefly wasn't very beguiling to begin with so I don't think he'll be missed.
December 21, 2012 6:08 am The thing I always realize after reading is just how far Vaughan and Staples move the story in each issue, seemingly without much effort.
December 19, 2012 11:48 pm GASP! An actual tie in with substantial material that relates to the tie in. Further, this is one of the best issues of this one in a long while. The Joker/Raya mash-up was fairly creepy looking.

December 19, 2012 11:44 pm This writing makes me kook forward to his work on Green Hornet.
December 13, 2012 12:00 pm In the pilot episode, when he is escaping from the guys in the red dragon masks, he uses one as a human shield while being shot at. After that, he breaks the neck of another hooded guy ("no one can know my secret...."). As far as with an arrow, in the same episode while he is tearing through Adam Hunt's security team in front of the elevator one gets an arrow to the gut (may have killed him), and another guy gets thrown through the glass door and is riddled with bullets.
December 13, 2012 11:10 am Good finish for this year. I always love a good death machine/death trap. I thought the fight between the two Archers was executed well even for television. Watching him break those arrows out of his back was cringe worthy (in a good way). I wish the relationship between Ollie and Thea would level out in either direction; one scene they are old fashioned best friend siblings and the next she is as rebellious towards him as could be. I had always been confused about the shady dealings of his mother but I guess that's the point and will be a plot line moving forward. Overall the production quality is above average (for tv at least) and the writing isn't as campy as I thought it would be. It's been great to watch this each week.
