Ugggggggggggggggh,  Mark Milar is clearly content to get lazier and lazier rather than improving his craft.  And, if it’s making him enough money to sleep at night, who am I to judge?  This issue is filled with lame patter attacking the French (what year is this?) and the ultimate cop out historical reference, The Kennedy Assassination.  Add to this the inane, THE VILLIN IS EEEEVIL, HE TOTES KILT A BAYBEEEE!!!!! and you’ve got the kind of issue that seems to be written by a talented fifteen year old who’s been raised in a box, and is unaware that all of these themes have been written over and over again, and with much more grace (and, sometimes, with much more fun and shock value) by hundreds of more talented writers.

And the one liners and clunky dialog in this heap are so bad that they make Millar’s lame “Nemesis makes Kick-Ass look like sh#!t” posters look like Shakespeare.

Pacheco’s art isn’t all bad.  But there’s a panel in particular where Cap is kicking a Frenchman and climbing a ladder that look like Pacheco photo referenced a ballerina with a severe pituitary disorder.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 3 - Good

Comments

  1. Reliably CRAZY Akamuu!!!

  2. Hhahaha.  I’m sorry, but I have to laugh.  I had a lot to say about this ridiculous fascination with attacking the French that Millar has shown throughout his run int he comments section on the issue.  To see that it continues here… man.  I don’t get it.

  3. @Crippler: I really think Millar is just fucking with people.  He would sell a fart in a bag for ten bucks, and people like KickAss would pay it.  So, I guess more power to him?  I do miss when he used to try and write well, though.

  4. You know, this issue didn’t bother me that much.  At some parts I really actually liked it.  It’s not his best writing, but I definitely didnt’ hate it.  As long as the real Cap doesn’t hate the French, I really could care less.
