Like some readers, I lost interest in Superman’s story somewhere toward the final issues of World of New Krypton.  Having dropped and missed everything leading up to this war, I was nervous that I wouldn’t know what was going on, but Robinson and Gates have crafted a perfectly fine tale so far.  What’s been great about this series, and this issue specifically, is that the ante is raised with each issue.  The escalation of the war and the stakes is palpable on the page, and it’s a blast to read.  The pacing is brisk without being shallow, and it feels as if this may be one of the biggest threats of Superman’s career.  The only real drawback of the issue is that the art is not great.  It’s perfectly serviceable and does a nice job of conveying the story, but the inking is a bit sloppy and the characters are a little too rounded and soft for my tastes.  The inking is also heavy and the coloring is very muted and dark, giving the title a very muddy feel.  This is disappointing, especially when compared to the great work Igle did on last week’s title.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 3 - Good
