Having read issue #1 a week late, it was great to read these two right in a row. First of all, Igle, given a little bit more time than a normal artist, has to be one of the best pencillers around. Issue #1 was amazing in both story and art. Second, Robinson and Gates compliment each other so well…I have a hard time reading some of Robinson’s dialogue because all of the natural breaks that he uses. But these two together, holy crap, great dialogue and story points. Third, this story is light years better than the last two Superman mini’s combined. It has depth, it feels urgent, and it’s making all of the stories of the past several years even more relevant, less small story arcs and more small parts of an enormous picture. I picked up Superman when Johns and Busiek started to write the two books and this series is the payoff. Fourth, closing out this major story and the introduction of new creative teams really makes feel like even MORE of a grand finale, so it’s almost making me salivate to think about what the next two issues will hold. I stay away from the media as much as possible to avoid spoilers, and I’m glad because the surprises in this series have been great.

By the way…frozen tears in issue #1 was awesome.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
