This story continues on the fast paced action, and continues
to deliver some great moments in comic books. First New Krypton exploded, and
the last page of this book just surprised the crap out of me. This book almost
snagged pick of the week, with the fast and heavy story and the gorgeous
artwork by Pasica and Faucher. I’ve said in the past that Superman was
uninteresting, and I’m sure after the dust settles on this war that I will
continue to ignore the books, but for now, I’m all in.

Superman catches up with Supergirl, and Clark helps here
briefly grieve, and then gives the young Supergirl some direction. While that
would be the heavy drama of the book, it is brief since they don’t have a lot
of time to prevent the war from escalating and protect Earth from General Zod
and an army of Krytptonians. Gates and Robinson keep us focused on Superman as
the only hero how can save us, and then hit us with the idea that after all
these years, it’s truly General Lane and Lex Luthor who can save the Earth from
annihilation. After-all, this was the nightmare they had prophesied for years,
preaching to anyone how this “Superman” was bad for the Earth. With the deck
seemingly stacked against us, this issue took a turn that brought a smile to my
face. I’m certainly glad this book is weekly, cause I’m glued to my seat, and
can’t wait for more.
